A Hiking We Will Go!

The twins came to play, and Steve and the girls took them hiking at our favorite spot.

 We think they liked it!

Miss Independent

Image
Guess who put in her own pigtails during class yesterday?  At least she only looks like an orphan from the back!

I love Megan's independence.  She doesn't sit around and wait for someone to solve her problems.  She jumps right in, finds a solution, and gets to work.

You might be LDS if . . .

. . . your youngest daughter comes home from school with a free toothbrush and dental coupons, and exclaims that her friends mom talked about teeth today because she is "a High Priest!"  (Sounds a little like hygienist, right?)

Silly girl.

Sometimes a girl just needs more than one dress . . .

. . . at a time!

Image

Megan casually walked into the computer room and said, "Hello."  When I asked her why she was wearing two dresses, she just smiled and lifted up her skirts to reveal dress number three!  What a silly girl!  It's over 100 degrees outside, and she is running around wearing three dresses.

Image

Why in the world would she want to wear so many layers?

Image

Maybe this could be a contributing factor.

Prodigy?

Lacie has seen a camel one time in her life--at Aladdin two days ago. Here's the picture she drew out of the blue at church today:

I know I'm a little biased--being her mother and all--but I think I've got a future artist on my hands.  How does a kid catch a quick glimpse of something and capture the basic shapes so well?  I'm impressed.  (Did I mention that she is five?)

(Yes, I was so impressed that I pulled out Steve's iphone and discretely took a picture during sacrament meeting!  Let's just keep that between you and me.)

Today these beautiful little girls went with us to church.  They had a hard time staying in nursery, so I volunteered to stay with them so that Haley could go to class.  (Aren't I the nicest, sweetest sister?  Of course it had nothing to do with the fact that I could take off my shoes, eat snacks, and play with the kids!)

After spending two hours with Tessa on my lap of within arms length, Tessa made a startling announcement to her mom as we were leaving:  "Heidi scares me."  Of course, I turned to her, gave her my silliest smile, and exclaimed, "Heidi scares you?  No way?"  To which she responded by bursting into tears.

Yep.  I'm the scary aunt!

(I wasn't offended a bit.  She forgot about it in ten seconds and never mentioned it again, but it sure made me laugh!)

A Trickle Runs Through It . . .

There is an awesome park in town where a river runs through it (sort of).  It begins with a low waterfall that splashes into a small lake area which then turns into a little river that winds around, goes under the sidewalk, and then down a set of stairs.  The kids love it!  To add to the fun, there is splash pad and a working carousel, too.

We were so excited when we found out Tessa and Paige would finally be in town when it was hot enough to play in the water.  We headed straight for the park.

The water was off, and the carousel was broken.  Can you believe it?  Since when does the city turn off the water in the most popular spot in the middle of a hot day?  Crazy.  Fortunately, the splash pad and the water stairs were working.  Tessa and Paige don't know what they missed, but I do!  I guess this means that Haley (my sister) and Jason will have to come for another visit!

At least the frogs were still spitting . . .

Image
. . . and the fire boy was still spraying!

Melissa swore up and down that she didn't want to get in the water . . . until she got there!

I couldn't seem to get the twins to look up at the same time!

Holey Moley!

Guess who lost her first tooth?

Image

She was eating an orange (smiley face style--where you can put the orange slice in your mouth and make the peel look like a big orange smile) at the park, and out it popped!  She almost lost it in her excitement, but she found it.  Thank goodness!  It would have been really difficult for the tooth fairy to find our house without the tooth to guide her way!

Aladdin

Thanks to our friends, the Bartons, we were able to get heavily discounted tickets to see Aladdin at Tuacahn.  Despite the look on Melissa's face, we had a great time!

Can you guess which of my girls hates to have her picture taken?

(Tuacahn is also showing Hairspray.  That's the sign board that Megan is posing in.)
