Happy Birthday Trent!

ImageWow! Fifteen... I can't believe he's already fifteen years old. Just six more months and he'll have his driving permit. Eek! And One year until he'll be driving... Time passes too quickly when your raising kids, I wish i could just freeze time somehow.
Trent is a great kid. I'm so thankful to be his mom! I guess I don't know what I expected in having a teenage son? But I certainly didn't realize until I hit this phase of life with him that teenagers are really actually a lot of fun! He makes me and everyone else in our family laugh. While he can be a quiet kid, if you give him a minute he can also be hilarious! Kaytlin often looks at me and says " I love our family, we are crazy"! Most of that funny craziness comes from him. He keeps us on our toes! He loves to hide behind things and then when you're least expecting it jump out and scare you to death... Trent also loves snowboarding, mountain biking, four wheeling and video games. He's a great listener, compassionate, extremely helpful to me and his siblings when they'll let him help, he's trustworthy, loyal, a leader, a great friend, does things without having to be asked, awesome at cleaning, and just a lot of fun to be with. Somehow even when he is the normal "teenager annoying" he still manages to make me laugh! Im thankful every minute to be his mom.

She's thirteen!!!

ImageI can't believe Kaytlin is thirteen... It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating her first birthday. She is such a joy to have in our home! Kaytlin is spontaneous, random, funny, a social butterfly, and extremely thoughtful of others and their feelings. I'm so thankful to be her mom. I always hoped that I would have a daughter that I could do the kinds of things with that my own mom does with me. Kaytlin makes me laugh and is a huge help with her siblings. She loves to be around people, write, sew, draw, paint, swim, snowboard, dance, anything sports related, and sing. She keeps me active, and inspires me on a daily basis. I love her so much....

This morning for her birthday we all had breakfast together. Tradition is usually breakfast in bed, however now that they have to leave for school so much earlier, she needed to be getting ready while I was making it. Austin came up from his room so excited about the "Ugly Doll" that he was going to give to her. In his hand was a piece of paper that he said he was going to write a poem on. I told him he better hurry because we were going to eat soon so he didn't have much time to put a poem together. He said "mom I dreamt about what I was going to say".

Austin's poem

"If you ever have a doubt,
give an ugly shout. And
hug the ugly monster".

After eating Austin says to Kate as she was finishing getting ready -

Austin - "Kaytlin keep that poem. Don't throw it away, okay".

Kate - "I won't Bubba, I love it"!

Austin - "K good because when I grow up I might become a writer-ist and if I become famous then you'll have some of my earliest work, and then maybe you could sell it and make lots of money. Then you would be rich because of me"....

You just need more practice....

This morning Austin and I were singing the song Love Story while Kaytlin was playing the piano music. When we were all done he says to me:

Austin: "mom, I wonder where I got my good voice from?"

Me: "Are you saying I don't have a good voice?"

Austin: "Um... Well... No you just need more practice.."

Isn't he sweet....

Yesterday he asked Rob if we had any duck tape and Rob said no. Austin loves to take the tape and some paper towel rolls or some toilet paper rolls and make toy guns or whatever else he can imagine (but mostly guns). So then he announces that for Christmas he wants a stocking full of duck tape! That's easy, I can do that!

Kate's Ballet experience

Image

Kaytlin was so excited to go to the ballet today for her school field trip, so excited in fact that she thought everyone should have this opportunity.. I couldn't wait for her to get home to hear about her experience.... This is what I got as I walked through the door from work...

Kate: MOM!!!! Come here, I need to talk to you in private please, I had fun at the ballet today, but.... the ballet should have been rated "R"!!! She's saying all of this with a giggle of embarrassment...

me: Why?

Kate: Because the boys pants were so tight you could see there you know whats"! "Then when they were turned around it was so tight you could see the crack!" I didn't know where to look! And I was so embarrassed for them....

Isn't she so adorable! I love her!!

Birthday Week!!

Okay, so it's birthday week again! Kate's is on Wednesday and she will turn 12..... That means she will be in Young Women's! A- How did that happen so fast? B- I'm so excited to be in with her! She is so excited, that she talks about it everyday! One of my favorite things that she said to me was "Mom I get abducted this Sunday into Young Womens, I'm so excited!!!" I said to her "you mean inducted?" We both laughed so hard! She's a funny one!

Trent's birthday is Saturday, and rather than being excited about going snow boarding on his birthday he is sick....Yup! He has a flu bug, one of the many million. Kaytlin ran a hot tub last night and lit candles for him, such a good sister. He loved every minute of it. He's such a great kid, I'm thankful everyday for him.

Ballroom dancers get all the chicks!!

This morning Austin starts Ballroom again. He LOVES it! I'll never forget the day he came home and announced that he wanted to take it at his school. As soon as he said it, I see Trenten come flying up the stairs to of course capitalize on the moment and say to Austin, "you want to do ballroom dude, why?" Austin of course replied with "hey Trent I'm not the stupid one cuz if you do ballroom, you get to hold hands with all the girls!" Trenten had no come back for that one...

So this morning as we are getting ready to head over to the school we were talking in the kitchen and he says to me, "Mom? These kids at my school were saying that ballroom is stupid and I asked them if they'd ever tried it and they said no and so I told them they couldn't have an opinion about it unless they tried it and then I said besides ballroom dancers get all the chicks!" (imagine Austin being as serious as possible when he's saying this.. He really truly believes it)

Should I be worried?
