India stands at the most consequential infrastructure inflection point in its history. The National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) commits INR 111 Lakh Crore to construction over the decade — highways, metros, data centres, smart cities, ports, housing, and green energy infrastructure on a scale no generation of Indian engineers has ever attempted.
And yet the single biggest constraint on this ambition is not capital, not policy, not land acquisition — it is talent. Civil engineering enrolment is declining. The sharpest graduates who do enter the profession migrate overseas or pivot to consulting and finance. Site experience is devalued. The construction sector is invisible in campus placement conversations.
The India Construction Professionals Congress is SDLC's attempt at helping the industry in attracting and retaining talent.
