Adjusting to three...
Our little Kenndy is one month old. I can't believe how fast this month has gone by! Kennedy is starting to grow...I told her to stop it, but she didn't listen to me. Her toes are starting to push through her newborn jammies, it kinda makes me sad when they start growing out of there newborn clothes. I just love the newborn stage, it's probably my favorite stage. I have loved putting Kennedy in the same outfits and jammies that I put the other two girls in. It brings back such sweet memories.
Adjusting to 3 has honestly been a lot easier than I thought. Probably the hardest part has been dealing with the the other 2 girls. Miley is going through a funny stage where she wants to change her clothes 10 times a day...and Makayla does everything Miley does, so she changes her clothes 10 times a day too. That's 20 outfits! I just cant keep up with all the wardrobe changes. I was so fed up with them that I had Cory install child locks on their drawers. That solved that problem. But it didn't solve my new problem of having them take there clothes off and run around naked!
Kennedy has been a breeze, she barely makes a peep all day. She is so content. During her awake time, she'll just sit in her swing for hours and just watch us play. I do feel guilty that I haven't been able to hold and cuddle her like I did, well with Miley...Makayla didn't get held that much either.
But when the girls go to bed, I get to soak up my cuddle time with Kennedy. Cory and I fight over who gets to hold her at night. (I think because who ever is holding her, doesn't have to deal with the other 2 kiddos when they get out of bed. haha)
Kennedy sleeps like a champ, at night she's up about every 4 1/2 hours. She'll be up at midnight, then again at 4:30 and then at 9. She's even had a few 6 hour stretches! So I feel well rested and still have energy to play with the girls when they wake up at 9 too.
She is a great nurser, nursing has been a breeze. She even takes the bottle so I can leave her with Grandma or Cory for a bit.
Miley and Makayla have been awesome big sisters to Kennedy. Makayla is constantly smothering her face repeatedly saying "hi, hi, hi, hi".
Miley loves sharing her toys with her. I'll go to check on Kennedy and she's got toys covered all around her...hmm who could of done that? They both beg to hold her whenever she's awake. And whenever she happens to cry they'll run over to her and say "it's okay, it's okay." If there is a binky nearby, they'll try to shove it in her mouth. I know they are just trying to help . :)
You'd think Kennedy would cry whenever the girls are nearby, but she doesn't seam to mind at all. There have been a few times that the girls have hit her head and made her cry, but that's about it...so far.
Another thing that has made adjusting really easy is that I haven't made dinner at all since Kennedy was born! The first week home we had a bunch of family and friends help us out by making us dinner, then my Mom came and made us dinner for a week. Since my mom left we've been eating my pre-made freezer meals.
For the last couple months of my pregnancy I made about 30 freezer meals. I started making so much that we had to buy a freezer for our garage...I even had to put more meals in my mother in laws extra freezer too!
Having three has had it's moments though. Going out in public by myself is challenging.... Kennedy usually sleeps the whole time, but still lugging around the car seat with two rambunctious toddlers is no easy task. Going to the bathroom in public with the girls is even more difficult now. I can't do it with out a handicap stall. Let's just say whoever is the bathroom with us at the same time is probably laughing there heads off. My public affairs are very brief now. :)
I am so lucky that we have Fred Meyers though...grocery shopping is possible with it. I just drop off the 2 girls in the playland and I get to shop for an hour. I think it's worth paying a little extra to shop there just to have that hour of freedom.
I'm counting down til Kennedy is 6 weeks...that means I can drop her off at the YMCA and I can work out again!! Very excited about that. :)
I think I expected the worst about having three, so that's why I think having three is easy. Moving from 1 to 2 was harder for me than 2 to 3. Miley and Makayla were 14 months apart, so having them that close together was very challenging. Miley wasn't even walking when Makayla was born!
Kennedy and Makayla are three years apart, and to me that is so much easier. They are actually helpful to some extent. :)
I just love my 3 girls!!
All three girls in the back!
