She's Two Weeks Old!

Olivia was supposed to be updating the blog this week, but she's been busy with other stuff, like hanging out with both of her grandmas. (My mom left on Wednesday, and Daniel's mom showed up on Friday morning.) They have been lifesavers to have here. Olivia loves all the extra snuggles and I love having their expertise. We will miss them!

ImageDaniel is back into school, busy busy busy, and learning how to multi-task. He can eat a snack, cuddle Olivia, and work on his school work all at the same time. What a guy...

ImageSo that leaves me to update the blog. With all the help from my mom and Daniel's mom I am finally feeling up to doing more than feeding Olivia, sleeping in 2-hour shifts, eating the good food our moms are so good at fixing, and getting an occasional (and heavenly) shower. With the first two weeks under my belt, which is getting smaller every day, I am feeling a little more confident about this motherhood thing.

During Olivia's first week, she worked really hard on just one thing: sleeping. But this week, her second week, she's been working on two things: facial expressions and tolerating bath time. And sometimes, as you'll see, she works on both at the same time.

Olivia is constantly doing lots of facial expressions. She is already a little drama queen. Here are some fun ones from this week:

One Cute Pic

Olivia learned to sleep with her hand behind her head. She's sure getting good at relaxing!

I'm a Week Old!!!

Well, I've really been growing up quickly, and I think I'm old enough to tell my own story now. So here's what I've been up to during my first week in the world.

I've really gotten to love bath time--especially when mommy washes my hair. I also love my hooded towel.

ImageThis week, I've been working on opening my eyes really wide and studying the world. There are sure a lot of interesting things to look at!

Image
Image...Although some of the things I see in New York City make me a little skeptical of my decision to come into this world...
ImageOn Saturday, I told my parents that I was no longer a newborn, since I had lost my umbilical cord. That means that now they'll let me take big kid baths!
ImageAs a little lady, I've been practicing crossing my legs.
ImageOn Friday morning, I woke up with an eye infection in my right eye. So mommy and daddy bundled me up and took me to the doctor, where I got some antibiotics. Even though I didn't like the doctor looking into my eyes with the bright light, or taking my temperature, it wasn't such a bad trip--in fact, we found out that I've already grown to 6 lbs. 8 oz. That's a half pound in only four days! It was pretty cold on Friday, so I had to wear my bunting bag with the cute little ears. It kept me plenty warm.
ImageOn Saturday, I took a trip with mom, dad, and grandma to Katz's Deli. It was my first time out in my stroller. I enjoyed getting buckled in, and I enjoyed riding in the stroller. They tell me it was a beautiful day and that it was really noisy in the deli, but I slept through most of the outing.

ImageOne thing I've become really good at this week is sleeping. I probably spend more time doing that than anything else! And mom has finally gotten me to sleep in my cradle.
ImageLast night, I only woke up once during the night to feed! I was really tired!
ImageSometimes, I sleep on mommy's chest and rest my forehead on my hands.
Image
ImageBut most of the time, especially at night, they swaddle me up so that my arms won't wake me up.
ImageI've had a great week!
