Motherhood is certainly an experience like no other. It is amazing how we can love our kids so much. It also never ceases to amaze me as to what they are capable of. Claire has discovered the joys of a toilet. We are constantly trying to keep the bathroom doors shut. Still, she finds opportunities when they come knocking (I am hoping that this will turn out to be a beneficial quality later in life). Earlier this week, as I was doing some touch-up painting on our walls, Jacob yelled from the potty that Claire was coming in the bathroom. Jacob was currently using the potty for the purpose of "number two", so I wasn't too worried about what Claire could do. Then Jacob yelled, "Claire put a lego in the potty!!!" I jumped up and ran to survey the scene. Claire had put a few large legos in the potty (not something that I could just flush down) and there were not just legos in the potty (Jacob had already finished "number two"). As I wiped Jacob, Claire quickly waddled out to the front room and around the back of the couch where I had been painting. She grabbed the wet paint brush and painted our new carpet (which was installed earlier this month). Luckily I was able to get all of the fresh paint out of the carpet and the legos were sterilized in our dishwasher.
Then Saturday came. Jacob was outside playing with some friends and Jonathan and I were in the house working. Claire is at the age now where quiet is not necessarily a good thing. I went to check on Claire, only to find that she had put my phone in the toilet. I fished out my phone, took it apart, and there was a knock at the door. It was the neighbor kids' dad. Jacob pooped in our driveway. What?!?!?!? Yes, Jacob pooped in our driveway. This kid has been potty trained for months without an accident. Apparently, he really had to go and just didn't want to stop playing and so he just pulled down his pants, pooped, and went on with playing. Wow.
Last night was also full of excitement as Jacob threw up and Claire has been sick with a cold. Poor Jacob has a fever and can't keep much down.
Still, with all of the craziness motherhood brings, I still wouldn't trade it for the world, and I also know that my kids won't be young forever. The pictures below come from different experiences and have no relation to the above stories mentioned. :)

A fun day out in the snow. Really, Jacob did enjoy sledding.
Claire is my little helper.

Jonathan and Jacob love to play with legos. A typical family home evening activity.
Apparently, eating only around the edges, is the way to eat a burrito.
