Driver hits 108 mph while rushing home to watch ‘Love Island,’ authorities say

PINAL COUNTY, Ariz. (Gray News) - Authorities in Arizona say a “Love Island” fan was caught speeding at 108 mph as she rushed home to watch the reality show.

A trooper with the Arizona Highway Patrol clocked a driver going 108 mph last Tuesday on State Route 347, according to a Facebook post. The speed limit in the area is 65 mph.

The driver, who was not identified, reportedly told the trooper she was “trying to get home fast” to watch “Love Island.” The eighth season of the reality TV show’s U.S.-based spinoff premiered June 2 on Peacock.

Authorities say the driver was arrested and booked for criminal speed and reckless driving. Her car was sent to “car jail” for 20 days.
