A very important and well written book about a doctors experience of covid, long covid as a post viral problem and trying to help patients (children!) whilst being worked against by your own health care colleagues. Still as valid today to read as during the active pandemic as children are having their lives destroyed by covid each day.

I’m writing this review on behalf of my wife, who read this book as the mother of a 15-year-old daughter with long COVID.

She ordered it out of deep concern, hoping for recognition, understanding, and maybe some guidance. She ended up reading it in one sitting — she simply couldn’t put it down.

What moved her most was Dr. Buonsenso’s genuine care for his patients, and especially the attention he gives to children with long COVID. So many of the stories and observations in this book felt incredibly familiar: the lack of recognition, the struggle to find proper care, and the sense of being left to figure things out on your own.

But above all, this book gave her hope — hope that the voices of young patients are being heard, that research continues to progress, and that better care will eventually become available for children like our daughter.

The book rells you exactly what you need to know about how Long Covid was perceived. How difficult as a doctor it was to treat it and go against the established doctors to see how it for what it is and how this illness destroys children’s lives. He engages with his patients and listens to children, leads an international meeting to teach doctors. Danilio has helped so many where others haven’t. Nobodies perfect and he even shows that in his book.
