Into the Pot: Stewing on Power
Community Conversation with Breaking the Firewall
As the Sun reaches its lowest arc and begins its slow return, weโll gather around our virtual pot to simmer some thoughts on the shadowy intersections of energy policy, tech infrastructure, and "post-television" media. From our unique vantage point as an Irish diaspora collective, inspired by the work of comrades on the island, we'll shed some light on the bigger picture surrounding the hyperscale data centers pulling enormous amounts of power to feed systems of "sustainable" surveillance and targeting while locking in "green" fossil fuel dependence, promoting a "carbon-neutral" mining boom, and accelerating the devastation of communities around the world.
What does it look like to kindle a more just future together? Inspired by struggles near and far, we're excited to welcome some special guests, including IL-06 Congressional candidate, software engineer and former basketball pro Joey Ruzevich, to help us stir the pot as we examine the ingredients shaping these currents and reclaim the power to nourish people, not death machines. Join us to share knowledge, ask questions, and cook up some pathways to aย future full of warmth and nourishment while raising funds to support a family in Gaza right now.
2:30-4:30 PM CST (Zoom)
