What is a POURQUOI story?
A pourquoi is one form of fictional narrative writing. It is also known as an origin story. The word pourquoi is French and translates in English to the word “why.” This imaginative tale is a creative pourquoi story explaining how ladybugs got their spots. It is enjoyed by young children and acts as a perfect catalyst for young writers who imagine a pourquoi story of their own.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2019Format: PaperbackI have 3 nieces and 1 nephew (ages 3-10) who all get super excited when they see me pulling out this book for story time. This book has a super cute and creative story about nature, friendship, and adventure that keeps the kiddos engaged until the very end. My favorite part about this book is that it is something all the kids can enjoy together despite differences in age. This is a book you want to add to your collection for sure!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2019Format: PaperbackAs soon as the book was unwrapped, my little grandson was captivated. He immediately found a comfortable chair and proceeded through the book page by page explaining each photograph to me. The ladybugs without the spots were fascinating to him. He didn't even need me to read the book to him until he had finished telling me about it. A sign of a truly great book.

Their little faces lit up as they came to the ending and always beg us to read it again. After just a few days the cover is becoming more worn... the true sign of a loved and good book :)
