It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

On Saturday we went to the Botanical Gardens. They had their gardens all lit up with Christmas lights. Santa was there and one of his reindeer! The Girl really likes to sit on Santa's lap now. She told Santa she wanted a yellow flute but then corrected herself and said "I already have one at home. I want treats!" We loved walking around looking at all the lights and hearing the choir sing Christmas songs. It even started to snow really lightly. It was totally wonderful!

The Yellow Flute
The Girl got to see Santa on Saturday at our Ward Christmas party. She was not afraid of him at all. She smiled and sat on his lap. He asked her what she wanted and she said, "a lellow flute."Here's the story behind that. Earlier this week we were shopping and she found this yellow recorder and carried around the whole store asking me to open it so she could play with it, etc. I finally told her that we had to put it back, but that she could ask Santa for it for Christmas. She wasn't too happy about it and cried as we were leaving the store. Well, she remembered!!!
Our neighbor Sara heard about what she asked for from Santa so later this week she brought The Girl an early Christmas gift. It was a yellow recorder. The Girl loves playing it and I try to tell her it is really pretty when she blows softly, though I don't think she believes me.

Four Generations
On Sunday we went to visit with my Grandma, The Girl's Great-Grandma. It was her birthday! The Girl sang her "Happy Birthday" with us, along with "Jingle Bells" and a few other songs. She also showed off her dancing moves and somersaults. She was quite the busy body at the nursing home, making everyone smile as we passed them in the halls, but still very sweet and fun. I know she made my Grandma's day and we are so glad we took the time to visit with her.
First Adventure with Ice Skating
On Saturday we took The Girl on her first time ice skating at the Seven Peaks Ice Arena. She had so much fun! She loved holding our hands as we helped her glide across the ice. She loved jumping and doing "woopsie-daisies" on the ice. T and I got pretty tired of holding her up so we took a few brakes to watch the other skaters. The Girl saw one girl do a spin and said "okay, (I'll) try it." Later she watched another skater do a jump and she said "I want to do a jump now." She was not afraid to go fast or try to go on her own. We even let her fall a couple times to see what it was like. It was such a fun family activity! T is ready to take her skiing next!

The Girl is funny!
Girl: "Oow."
T: "Oh, I'm sorry. Is my face scratchy?"
Girl: "Yeah. I think you need to mow your cheek."
Well, I told my family this story at Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone laughed. After the laugher stopped The Girl said, "Mow your cheek, ha ha. Laugh everyone! Ha ha! Laugh everyone!"
She figured out that she was pretty funny and thought we would all just keep laughing at her. So cute!

Happy Halloween!
She loved getting lots of candy. We would be leaving one house and The Girl would say "Okay, let's go get some more candy." The Girl would sometimes run to the next house. She only asked one person for more candy after they had given her some. That's pretty good! She loved seeing all the other kids out all dressed up and even ran into some friends as we were trick or treating.
Then after ward we got to have homemade donuts with our friends. YUMMY! I had my pregnant share and The Girl's share. It was a really fun Halloween night. The Girl asked me what I was dressed as and I said I was just going to be a mommy tonight. She seemed okay with that idea too.
We also have pictures of carving our pumpkins the night before and how great they all turned out. And if you can't tell... The Girl's is a cat and mine is a witch with crazy hair.
Last weekend, The Girl got to go to a costume birthday party! They decorated pumpkins and went trick or treating at the neighbor's house. The Girl also enjoyed telling all the kids what to do. They started the party with coloring but after a few kids arrived The Girl announced it was time to clean up so they could party. Then she got up and said "it's time to dance" and started dancing. She seemed to know all about how this party was supposed to go. It was cute.

Minnie Mouse
Here's my sweet little Minnie Mouse all ready for Halloween Trick or Treating! :D She is such a doll in this homemade costume. My mother helped me learn how to make the tutu skirt, continued to impress me with her expert bow-tying skills, and glued on each pompom with extra love! Thanks mom!
