The Birth... the beginning

We arrived at the hospital just after 8 am. I was in the hospital gown, all hooked up & the pitocin started with in the hour & then the waiting game began. The doc broke my water & then I got the epidural at about 10:30 am. At this point I figured I would be able to relax, read a book, or even take a nap but nope! I started to have one of those light headed/pre- fainting spells that lasted a couple hours. Anyone who has a history of fainting knows how miserable it is. You're in this state where you can not get comfortable & your mind is "faded". You're kind of there but kind of not and your body is like screaming & scrambling inside, trying its hardest to keep you there. You're having hot flashes and you're sweating. Usually soon after this you either pass out or you're able to revive yourself by laying down (I was already laying down) or drinking fluids (I was already hooked up to fluids & was sucking on ice). It sucked & I hated it. The nurse couldn't figure out exactly why I was doing it nor could she help me. I just had to suffer & concentrate on breathing.

What I learned from my first delivery is that I was very slow to progress then all of a sudden I did & was ready to go. Same exact thing happened here. Whenever family called we kept saying, "not happening anytime soon". The plan was as soon as signs showed it was getting close I would call my sister Cami to come up & take pics of the delivery. Well the nurse came in to do a check & all of a sudden she was in panic mode to set everything up. She even gave me oxygen bc the fetal heart rate became questionable & she warned me to not push at all. We called Cami & she arrived right in the nic of time....

CrAsH!

July 18th, 2011

I left my mom's on my way to Costco to fill up (so happy I was running on fumes) & at 2:30pm I was passing the North Hampton house when a 3500 ton Chevy Silverado truck with a metal flat bed drove out in front of me. I slammed on my brakes & was able to turn right a bit so I didn't hit completely head on. It wasn't too hard of a hit bc of that but the metal flat bed corner caught on my car & ripped it up totaling our beloved Honda Accord (tear). Grayden was in the car with me but thankfully nor he or I or my unborn child was injured. Grayden actually handled everything just fine. No crying or screaming or anything. He was a bit distraught when the tow truck was taking it away but other then that he was just saying "car broken". After getting the rental car I was talked into going to the AF hospital at 7pm to check out how the fetus was doing. After being monitored for 6 hrs in Trioge I was finally able to go home at 1am. I was having contractions so they gave me this nasty shot to stop them, which made you feel like (I would think) a cack addict on withdrawals. They also gave me an ultrasound only to find out the baby was breached so this whole time I was denied food incase of an emergency c-section & I hadn't eaten anything since lunch! Starving I was! Anyway it was good to know the baby was doing great & that the accident hadn't affected him.

This was the car T bought right off his mission, the car we dated in & brought home our first child in.

The Carni's in Town!

July 8th, 2011

We spent a night at the carnival when it was in town for AF Steel Days. This was a first for Grayden & he absolutly loved it! This was also a new experience for T & he had a bit of a "culture" shock. Later on Natasha & Payden joined us & the kids couldn't have been cuter!

We put Grayden on this roller coaster & he had no idea what it did. As it took off he had this hilarious look on his face of pure stunned fear. This video doesn't really show it but he's not all smiles like in the other pics & no he didn't want to go on it again.

Independence Day 2011

Most of the day was spent planting our flower beds- something we have never bothered to do all the years we lived here. We decided it was time to do so & are finally loving our front yard now. (pics to come)

In the evening we BBQ'd at the Founy's along with some neighbors. Come night fall the Founy's had a firework show which was very enjoyable since Utah this year finally made arial fireworks legal- which are much more entertaining then the fountains you usually get stuck with.

The stickers are "Safety Kid" stickers that the firework stand gave to customers. Cohen distributed them out to everyone.

Grayden's New Room

First of all I'd like to start by saying that I am very thankful for my husband & I love him very much! He completely made my vision for this room happen. No, he was not excited at first bc he knew this vision was going to require a lot of his very little spare time. But he did it & did it wonderfully. (Marc helped paint & James helped with the assembly of the bunks as well- we're very appreciative!) I really wanted "board & batten" & T had never done it before but he researched it for me & with the help of his boss (thank you, thank you Flint!) he did a stellar job! I just love the room, it's now my favorite room in the house!

First Night in the Big Boy Bed!
We were not sure how Grayden was going to handle his first night out of the crib but he was super excited for his new bunks & would play on them all the time before the room was complete. Luckily we picked a night where he was exhausted & he fell right asleep.

Pre 4th Celebration

July 2nd, 2011

The Ford Fam always throw a great 4th weekend party. There is always lots of good food, yummy treats and a stellar firework show that gets better every year. Grayden this yr decided he doesn't like fireworks so he freaked out a little & went inside a lot to watch behind the window. Jagger & Grayden were totally stuffing their faces with all the candy they could find.

We had the annual reunion at a park & sadly these were the only pics I took.
(It was hot & I was very pregnant & didn't want to move much)

It's always good to see everyone & Grayden always has the best time playing with those cousins. Thanks to the Kirkmans who put it together this year!

New Toy?

June 24th, 2011

T was approached by a neighbor one day & was asked if he would manage their home while they were out of the country for 1-2 years. Since T works in property management already he happily accepted. Partial payment for this was a pair of LG front load washer/dryer. We were very happy to accept this since our current pair were very old, mis-matched, "hand-me-downs" (which we were very grateful for).

One day after just receiving these wonderful appliances we notice Grayden was very quite so we went to see what he was doing & this is what we saw....

I guess he found them very fascinating so he pulled up a chair & just watched them work.
Thank goodness for the child lock feature!

Toddler Cooking Class

June 20th, 2011

Natasha & I signed the kiddos up for a cooking class at the PG Rec Center this summer. I always get so excited finding new activities for Grayden to do, hoping this will finally be the one he'll love to participate in. Like all the rest I was a bit disappointed. The class itself was super fun & creative but Grayden thought the big sink was more fun. So I pretty much made everything & ate most of it too. Live & learn, right?

Image
This class we made lots of different yummy cookies. I tried to save some to give to T but I put them on top of my car then chased Grayden all over the parking lot to get him in the car, forgot about the cookies, then drove off & noticed them in my rearview getting run over. I was super unhappy about that.

Zoorassic!

May 31, 2011

Grayden, Payden, Apollo, Van & their mommies all enjoyed Hogle Zoo's Zoorassic fun. For only a couple months they bring in these very life like dinosaurs & put them through out the park. They move & roar & some even spit! Grayden thought the dinosaurs where more fasinating then the real animals.
(somehow I forgot to take pics of the dino's)
