Interactive installation, Apr 2016&#60;br /&#62;
Role: Technical Director&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
A 10ft x 6ft wall topped with Barbed Wire built by Trump streams propaganda on each brick of the wall. Players are given a directive to turn off Trump's campaign playing a touch-game. The wall is a DIY touch screen made out of conductive painted cardboard, secret wires, and a MaKey MaKey. The game requires cooperation, an homage to the #TIME2ESCALATE coalition hashtag this election season.&#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
The main mechanic being is a matching game where touching each Trump reveals different moments of resistance. Dispersed across the installation, activating matches requires teamwork. When matches are found, underdog winning scenes play. When all matches are found, there is finally a period of calm. Inevitably the Trumps trickle back in since resistance is an ongoing process.&#60;br /&#62;

Global Game Jam 2016.&#60;br /&#62;
Concept Development and Unity Programmer.&#60;br /&#62;
Teamed: Elaine Gomez, Peter Lu, and Annamaria Andrea Vitali. &#60;br /&#62;
&#60;br /&#62;
To respond to the theme of ritual, we created Absurd Elevator simulator, a game where you play an elevator operator dealing with surreal character/creatures talking about their weird obsession and anxieties. &#60;br /&#62;
Players select multiple elevator buttons which combine to generate custom floors for each rider to react to and hopefully elevate their day.&#60;br /&#62;

Tales of the Transcestors: The Divine reimagines folklore, mythologies, and spiritual guides across time and cultures. Three interwoven stories rooted in Native Hawaiian tradition (Kapaemahu), Islamic mysticism (djinn), and spiritual alchemy (the Rebis), unearth personal and cultural histories to reclaim trans wisdom, healing, power, and joy. &#60;br /&#62;

ART DIRECTION&#60;br /&#62;
I supported the directors vision in creating a portal for audiences to enter a "world between worlds"—where lineage, desire, time, and space are fluid and ever-shifting. The visual language I directed combined illustration with geometric cut-outs of actual photos to deliver a pop up book like aesthetic that plays with space and time, perspective and reality. &#60;br /&#62;

Designed the backdrop and batch edited the photos to appear as if participated were in the videogame from Rye Rye's “Boom” video with Rye Rye streaming in on the corner. &#60;br /&#62;

FRKN WKND is Aquma's M.F.A. Thesis Project at University of Southern California's Interactive Media and Game Design featuring collection of short personal games that build a larger narrative about a struggling game designer who lives with his mother in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles.&#60;br /&#62;

We worked closely to ensure usability and visual consistency across mini-games for this narrative project set in a vapor-wave themed phone.&#60;br /&#62;
