Coach-in-Training Program
Triangle Ultimate's Coach-in-Training program is open to anyone from the ages 14-18 and is designed to develop high school-aged players into strong leaders and coaches in the ultimate community while volunteering in our recreational, afterschool, and camp programs. High schoolers who participate will receive a multitude of perks:
- Volunteer hours for graduation requirements
- Unique Coach-in-Training gear from the TU Breakmark store
- Resume building through coaching experience
- Progression through the Coach-in-Training track to become eligible for paid coaching positions
CIT’s will be paired with various adult coach mentors throughout their experience to be exposed to a variety of coaching styles, lead games & drills with support, and enjoy a rich, immersive experience of building up youth ultimate in the Triangle. CIT development has the following goals:
Leadership
- Develop an effective variety of communication styles.
- Learn about safety and risk management practices
- Experience group management principles
- Learn how to collaborate with peers and head coaches
Responsibility
- Understand how to be responsible for themselves and youth
- Practice good decision making
Coaching
- Develop the technical skills necessary to be an effective, competent and compassionate Coach.
- Learn about the ages and stages of youth development.
- Provide individual and group feedback
- Learn drill development and sequencing.
- Become role models who develop positive relationships & rapport with the youth players they coach.
To reinforce their learning, CITs will participate in regular small group feedback sessions on their coaching skills. Apply today!
