INDEXING RECORD!

Image

I helped make an indexing record! Last Saturday a goal was set of indexing five million records world wide in 24 hours.  I helped by indexing and submitting records from Bern, Switzerland! Yeah, finally some Swiss records!  The actual  goal was more than doubled at over 10 million!  Jump on board and help do your part in getting records on line for everyone to research their own records.  You WILL be blessed.

Honduras and The Grand Caymans

Our next day was a split day for us; that is Theresa went zip lining and I stayed on and near the ship in the port. My hip was absolutely shot and I was barely able to walk. It did me lots of good to rest for the day. Theresa had tons of fun on the zip lines and I bought some pretty jewelry for myself and a tee shirt for dad.

Theresa and I back on the ship on a very windy day.

We found some kind of 'towel' animal on our bed every day after our steward made up our room.  So fun!

Another night on the ship and arrival in the Grand Caymans the next morning.
Heading out to Sting Ray Bay for some snorkeling and swimming with the Rays.

Oh this old laldy still loves snorkeling.  I brought up a big Conch shell, live!

This is one of the Rays, not a sting Ray.  Theresa got brave and actually kissed one of the Sting Rays, ugh!

This is an area over some coral where we were taken to snorkel.  Beautiful and so much FUN!

Excuse the cleavage, but oh what fun I had.

On our last formal dinner the ladies at our table dared me to try the frog legs, so I did.  I'm sure it would have been very good if it wasn't half raw.

Theresa is resting up after our formal dinner, then we went up top to watch the movie on the jumbo screen, but about half an hour into the movie it started to rain.  We were both glad to go back to the room and SLEEP.

After a full day on the ship, we arrived early the next morning in the port of Miami.  Here we are all packed up, sadly, and ready to leave the ship.  We flew directly home the same day.  What a lot of fun Theresa and I had spending the week together.  We both decided the best day was the day on Grand Cayman.

CRUISE CONTINUED - MY COMPUTER IS BACK!

My computer is fixed and I'm back to finish the cruise with you all.
Day 1 we boarded the ship in Miami, Florida and spent day 2 on the ship all day.  On day 3 we landed in Cozumel and took the tender (fairy) across to the Yucatan to see Tulum.
This is the beginning of day 4.  We have just arrived in Belize and are taking some buses to where some speed boats will take us up the New River to the ruins at Lamani.  These ruins date back to the Book of Mormon times.  The day started dry, but soon got so wet we were soaked to the skin!  We couldn't have been wetter if we had fallen in the river.  The official language of Belize is English.

In port in Belize.  The guy in the yellow, black and white shirt is Devon Ogden of Cruise Lady.  He was a great help and good friend on the trip.  He reminded me a lot of Eric; same size and age.

Theresa is waiting to get on the bus and anxious to get going.  The man in the black shirt is Chuck, also from Cruise Lady, our tour directors.

This is a Jacana on the New River.  They are often called Jesus birds because they appear to walk on water.  However, they stand on lily pads.  Soon after this, about 10 minutes into the boat ride up river the rain just started to pour down and didn't let up for the rest of the day.

This is called the High Temple.  Theresa can almost be seen halfway up the stairs.

Image
I am soaking wet and watching Theresa climb the stairs.  Fortunately it was only cold when we were speeding up and down the river.  While on land, it was very warm.  I ruined any chances of walking the next day because the ground was very slippery and my bad hip really took a beating.  It was all I could do to get back to the boats on the river.

Image
This is one of the masks on the Mask Temple.  There are at least two, but not all of this temple has been uncovered.  There are also many parts of walls to be seem around the site that have not been uncovered.  The governments don't have enough money to have archeologists uncover the thousands of sites that are in central America and Mexico.

Image
Here we are back on the speed boat in the river trying to keep warm.  There is no hope of keeping dry as we are already as wet as we can get!

Image
Back at the dock there is a wonderful meal cooked for us by the local peole who live in very small huts on stilts.  The food was delicious.  We had chicken, rice and beans, fried plantains, peppered onions (as in HOT peppers) and individual coconut cream pies.
It was wonderful to get back to the ship for a hot shower and dry clothes!

Here we are at our first on ship Formal Dinner (we had two).  I am wearing the dress I wore  at Angie's wedding reception about 12 years ago.

A Little Problem

I promise I will send more of the cruise details.  I am having trouble with my compute right now so Warren is going to get a new  operating system.  My computer will be down for a few days.  I'll get back to it as soon as I can.  Love to all my children, granchildren, sisters, dad and special friends who take the time to read my blogs.

CARRIBEAN CRUISE WITH THERESA

Well, here goes - it may take several days to get this all done, but this is day one of my new post.
As most of you know, Theresa and I went on a fabulous cruise together last week.  We flew to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on April 14th and boarded Carnivals ship Glory.  We had such a great time, even though it rained EVERY night.  That was OK because by evening we were looking forward to pillows, not on deck movies so much.

Our first night and full day was cruising to get to Cozumel, Mexico.  From there we took a tender (ferry) across to the Yucatan of Mexico and landed on Playa del Carmen, near Cancun.  At Playa d ride el Carmen we took a bus ride of about 45 minutes to the Mayan ruins at Tulum.  We also saw some more recently discovered ruins called Axe-Ha, right along the highway.  We didn't stop, but had a good look from the bus.

Axe- Ha

Tulum is a great ruins to see.  It post dates the dates that the Nephies would have been there by about 500 years, but it is situated on a cliff high above an absolutely beautiful white sand beach with the most beautifully turqois water you just want to jump into.  The area was protected from pirates and other uninvited ships by a coral reef that is only open in one small area.  The site at Tulum had a light house with a unique system.  When expected ships were coming in the lights would guide the ship through the narrow opening, but when pirates came the lights were move just enough to run the ships aground.

At this site Iguana are everywhere.  These are the kind Kevin ate on his mission.

Tender ride back to the ship for a cool shower.

This is the end of day one on land.  It is also the end of my post for today.  Keep checking.  There is more to come in the next few days

HAPPY LEAP DAY

I know it's Leap Year, but Leap Day just plain sounds strange.
But, HAPPY LEAP DAY!\

Last weekend we had got to tend Angie's kids while she and Justin celebrated thier wedding anniversary.  Friday night Angie stayed with us while Justin was on a scout camp out.  We had fun making her cards for card club.  The kids were anxious to use the computers to play games.  Here is Kamden playing some games on my machine.

Riley and Kai decided to color while they waited their turn.

Carson is having fun figuring out some 'Shoots and Ladders' mazes.

Did I ever say I love flowers?

The kids wanted to see how my German 'smokers' work. They smoke by having a lite up incense cone inside. After a while we were getting overwhelmed by the smell of the smoke, so we had to put the smoker in 'time out' and let him smoke out the window.

After Carson had his bath, he decided to ham it up a little.

Image

Unfortunately Riley and Kai woke up at 1:30 a.m. throwing up.  Two beds and two kids were covered in puke!  Kam picked some up from Kai and had to have his clothes changed too.  While Riley and Kai got in two different baths Warren washed sheets, blankets, clothes and floors.  I offered to do it, but he told me to go back to bed.  He knows I get sick if I don't get enough sleep.  Kai got in bed with me and generously vomited in my bed too.  By 3 a.m. Kamden was also puking.  Poor kids were so sick and poor Warren was up all night cleaning up after sick kids.  By morning Riley and Kam had some pretty serious fevers.  Kai gradually started feeling better.
After Angie and Justin picked up Kam and Riley, Warren and I went to Scott's house for Christina's 4th birthday party. We decided to let Kai go with us because he was feeling better. We also took Carson, who had not been sick and usually dosen't get sick, but . . . about 1 1/2 hours into the party Carson was getting sick too. We had to leave the party early. As we drove into Carson's subdivision I had to pull the car over quick, where he emptied his stomach on the sidewalk.  Poor kid!
