    📢 Big news! I'm shifting from my role at Apple as an Eng Manager (EM) for SwiftUI to a new role as an EM for macOS. My time on SwiftUI was some of the most fun in my career; however, CA never quite felt like home. This new role offers an amazing opportunity: remote work! [1/2]

    I love working with people who are friendly. Who say “thank you” or cheer you on or say “good job.” These things may seem small, but they add up in the same way (but opposite direction) that all the negs and “paper cuts” do. They create a culture. They matter. Kindness matters.

    I usually just say something like “Oh thanks for following me! So tell me about yourself.” (Or a more specific question depending on the context where we’re meeting, so if it’s an Accessibility Conf, I might say, “I’d love to hear about how you’re involved in accessibility!”

    🧵 5 years at Apple as of today! 🥳 To celebrate, here are 5 tweet-sized fun stories from my time there! (Note - my 5 years was split into two stints.)

    Tip for testing your iOS app with VoiceOver! If you’re a sighted dev, it can be easy to “cheat” when testing with VO, using visual cues to navigate. I recommend using Screen Curtain to hide your screen so you can really experience your app w/o seeing! Just 3-finger triple tap!

    If you haven't tried it yet, check out Settings -> Accessibility -> Live Captions (Beta); this is one of many amazing #a11y features in iOS 16. The feature captions any audio out OR in! Honored to have worked on this and beyond stoked for the team to have shipped it!

    Today is my last day at Apple. I’m deeply grateful for my time on the #accessibility team; I learned from some of the brightest, most dedicated people I’ve ever met. 💙 I’m taking some time off and am excited to share what’s next for me + a11y in a few months!

    Since we’re all looking at Stocks today… In the past years #VoiceOver has started to do cool stuff w charts. You can summarize charts and even play an audio graph! In this video, I’m using 1-finger up/down swipes to go thru all the actions, then double-tap to activate. #a11y
