About a year ago, I noticed Hannah was getting these very tiny brown spots on her skin. Not really knowing what they were, I had her pediatrician check them out only to find out they were freckles or "fairy kisses".
Yep--that's me. I'm the mom who took my daughter in for freckles. I'm a bit paranoid, I know.
The other day Hannah pointed out one of her freckles to me. I told her "Yes, it's beautiful, Hannah! It's called a fairy kiss!"
Hannah emphatically shook her head and said "No Mommy. They are angel kisses".
I had never heard of them called angel kisses before and I gently told her I thought they were fairy kisses (later I found out they can be called fairy kisses or angel kisses but at this time I had no idea).
Hannah shook her head so hard I thought she was going to lose her head "No Mommy!! THEY. ARE. ANGEL. KISSES!"
Can't argue with that. "Okay Hannah, you're right. They are angel kisses"
Suddenly it hit me. It was like God was speaking to me: Count them.
Really? Count them?
Yes, count them.
Then I suddenly knew why I needed to count them.
"You know, Hannah. You have 10 brothers and sisters in heaven. I bet these angel kisses are from them. I bet if we count them, we will count 10 angel kisses."
I'm thinking Okay God, this better be the reason or else I'm really going to look like a fool.
We counted them and came up with.....10.
It was enough to bring tears to my eyes. And Hannah hugged me so hard and beamed.
Now whenever I see those sweet freckles, I see her siblings. She knew in her heart they were angel kisses--kisses from heaven. They weren't just angel kisses but special angel kisses from her siblings. She just knew.
