First grade--week 2

Every week Hannah will be coming home with a Poetry Book with poems that they have read and learned in class. Here are the poems she learned this week:

I was pretty proud as I listened to her reading the poems for me. :)

She learned adding and subtracting and practicing her numbers:

She learned about tattling and reporting which I thought was awesome :):

She has spelling words every week. On Fridays she has a spelling test. She got 10/10 this week!

Here is a picture that was posted on Facebook on the school page. She is on the bottom right with the water bottle. She said she hurried up and put the water bottle down when she saw someone was taking a picture because she didn't want to get into trouble :)

The teacher told me Hannah is adjusting very well and giving lots of hugs and telling her "You're the best teacher ever!"

I'm so glad things are going so well and she is doing well already.

First day of school!

Hannah and her Auntie April

Her board reads:
I Love: My teacher, my music teacher, my library teacher
When I grow up I want to be: Super hero and teacher (Auntie April made a point that they are the same thing :))
My favorite subject is: Lunch
My favorite food is: Everything but tacos
My favorite book is: God's Not Dead

She did great for her first day! With Hannah I always worry about tears but there were no tears :)

Here are some things she did during her first week:

On their first day of first grade, they colored hats

She started learning about primary and secondary colors! I was amazed when she came home and told me how red and blue make purple and blue and yellow make green

Learned about cooperation and being good listeners

I tried to get out of Hannah what she did here "I don't know Mom! I just did what the teacher told me to do. She said do a squiggly line, do this, do that".

She gets so annoyed by me :)

Meet the Teacher and Jump Start

Hannah is officially a first grader.

Soak. That. In.

It's really true that time just flies by.

Hannah was able to meet her teacher a few days before "Jump Start" started. We were able to find her classroom and put her school supplies away. Very informal but it was nice to meet the teacher. The teacher had also had Peyton and Claire as first graders so it was nice to have that connection, too.

Here she is in front of her classroom:

I tried to get a picture by her coat hanger and her name but it wasn't so easy. Between funny faces, not keeping her legs together like a lady and laughing so hard, we didn't get a real good picture. That's our Hannah :)

And she was NOT HAPPY to take a picture with me:

So proud.....

This year the school district tried something different. It was called "Jump Start" but kinda the "4th week of Summer School". For 3 days before the actual start of school, kids had the option of 3 days of summer school or kind of a jump start into school. No schedules but being able to see your friends, play and get used to school again. It was great for Hannah.

Since it wasn't the first "official" day of school, Hannah didn't want a picture. But she let me take a picture of her school bag with her Build A Bear that she got the day before with Grandma that she HAD to take with her:

On the first day of Jump Start we were happy that Hannah had a great day! The teacher was actually surprised that Hannah has a tendency to be nervous and anxious.
