First grade--week 23

This week was Valentine's Day week :) They had a fun Valentine's Day party and Hannah got a lot of valentines :) Daddy was not happy to see she got a lot from boys :)

Here is math. I love how they have fun teaching the kids math:) SO creative!

With all the snow we've gotten, they've been able to do a lot of sledding at school. Hannah is the one on the far left in the pink snowpants:

The kids were given a book and if they could read it 4 times in a week, they were able to get together at lunch and learn about an author. Hannah was able to go to it:

First grade--week 22

Lots of math this week. I love how they are learning math using word problems :):

This week they learned how to make a constellation using a paper plate. You poke holes into the paper plate, turn off the lights and then shine a flashlight so you can see the constellation on the roof. Such a cute idea! Hannah was excited to have us all try making constellations :)

First grade--week 21

Some math:

This week had Groundhog Day. Hannah's class did a poll to see how many thought the groundhog would see his shadow. Hannah said "yes":

Hannah filled out this paper about her winter break:

First Day: "I had my birthday" (the last day of school before winter break was her birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese)
Christmas Eve: "Went to the pool" (we actually went the night before Christmas Eve, but whatever works :))
Christmas Day: "Went to my grandma's home"
Family Time: "we played games"
Favorite gift: "Going to Disney World"
Favorite Memory: "We were laughing"......awwww

One thing Hannah does not like about school is math. Math just isn't her thing. So I wasn't surprised when her January math journal was sent home, only one math sheet was done (out of 30) and there were pictures drawn on the back of some pages instead of doing the math pages :). Cracks me up!

First grade--weeks 19 and 20

For week 18 they did some math:

The kids are now doing weekly homework with their parents. They read the story and then answer the questions. It's fun to do it with Hannah :)

They are learning about seasons. Hannah didn't quite get the spring season (said it was May :)) and she didn't get that winter was the season that was missed (said it was summer) but she'll get there :)

On her spelling test, she got 8/10

Apparently this is a song that she wrote down:

"I say thank you. I say thank you. Ding, dang, dong"

Never heard of the song but I am old and probably not up to speed on the latest music :)

For week 19, the kids only had school for one day. We had a freeze where windchills were down to -50 to -60 and the regular temperatures were -20 to -40! It was crazy. There was one day when school was cancelled for the snow but then 3 days it was for the cold. Even businesses were closed. Church was cancelled for the week. We had Peyton and James stay at our house a couple days. By the time the weather finally warmed up, everyone was more than happy to get outside :)
