My Aidilfitri 2014 is quite OK this year. Alhamdulillah, I feel blessed with whatever bliss and bless I have at this juncture of my life. In the age of 30 years old, I have certain missions already accomplished and still in the process of accomplishing. I have a kind soul as a companion and solace in my life for the past 4 years; I have achieved quite a satisfactory level in my current career as a teacher (elected as Head of Science Panel & awarded ‘Anugerah Perkhidmatan Kecemerlangan’); I have car & house; I have visited the Holy Lands a.k.a. The Haramains; I have started my Master’s Degree and about to trail my way to another dimension of possible careers, etc. Of course, these tit bits are just trivial in comparison to others but I am grateful with everything, as in now.

My “Baju Raya” this year 2014; along with Gucci Guilty Black as the body perfume. Ermm…sensual. Hahaha!

Visiting Tok Nab at Kampung Padang, Jitra. The orange cushion is courtesy of Mak, anyway. But then….. Hmmmm…
This year, I have opted for an emerald/ Popinjay-soap coloured Baju Melayu with Chinese-buttoned; all with affordable RM90 at Jalan Masjid India (eversince I arrived in KL, this has become my must-go place for Eid clothes! I love the ambiance there!). Anyway, went back home on Saturday, 26th July as the school holidays coincided with the other professional fields as well (in previous years, school holidays were slotted earlier as to avoid traffic jams!) and due to that, the traffic jam was REALLY BAD!!! Imagine that my usual journey to Jitra, Kedah from Serendah, Hulu Selangor normally takes around 6 hours but this time around; took DOUBLE THE TIME, tantamount to 12 hours!! And imagine having 5 cats in the car did their poo & pee?! Honestly, really nerve-wrecking moment! But anyway, we managed to go through it. (,”)

Chu Timah’s house at Kepala Batas, Penang.
For the first day of Aidilfitri; we visited Tok’s house at Kampung Padang, Jitra. It has been ages since I last visited her. The affinity appeal towards her is somewhat lost due to her antiquated ignorance of “favouring my Black-Sheep-Of-The-Family Uncle” and “being nonchalance towards Mak’s efforts and sacrifice taking care of her and Wan when he was still lived”. I am not going to talk ill about Tok here; this preview is enough to describe how an uneducated mother sometimes favours the favorite child in comparison to her other devoted children despite that the favorite child could be doing a lot of bad, unworthy and disgraceful things even to herself and the father (Wan). But then again, as a Moslem, we still respect the elders; hence, to pay her visit once a while. But as a human, I have to confess that the affinity is LOST, at least from my part.

Mak Ngah & I for the album. She still looks beautiful, isn’t she?
Then, we decided to visit relatives of Ayah’s side; mostly residing at Province Wellesley or Seberang Perai. So, we drove all the way from Jitra! The first stop was at the late Chu Timah’s house at Kepala Batas. Now, the house is resided by her eldest daughter, Kak Nazirah who was a widow but then married to her late sister’s husband when the sister died of cancer. It was such a sad story; if I am not mistaken it was Kak Najah (the sister)’s wish that Kak Nazirah to wed Abang Amin so that the children would not miss the mother’s love. The late Chu Timah’s sister, the late Mak Tok was Kakak’s babysitter when we resided in FRU, Penang & so happened that Mak Tok’s son, Abang Jie married to our cousin, Kak Yati. So, it is all family!

Kak Alia tending her daughter. It is nice to see her finally leading a good life after all the helter-skelter commotion she had during her teenager years. Alhamdulillah!
Next, we went to Lahar Kepar to visit Mak Ngah Nah. So happened that Abang Nuar and family had just arrived from Melaka. It was nice to meet up with cousins and also Kak Alia with her baby, Aqilah Humaira. Mak Ngah has always been very close to us especially after the death of late Pak Ngah Saari when I was in primary school; 1995 if I am not mistaken; a year after late Wan (grandpa) died.

Anjang Yop & I at Permatang Berah, Penang. Below is Mak Su who happened to visit Anjang’s house at the same time; so we skipped their house. (,”)
We then pushed to Permatang Berah where Anjang Yop and family residing the late Wan Ismail’s house; which was an inherited house. Kakak & I had memorable nostalgia with Anjang Yop because when we were small and lived in the island of Penang, sometimes Mak & Ayah would send us to Permatang Berah for weekends or school holidays to live with our grandparents and those, Anjang Yop was still a bachelor. With his “coconut hair oil”, we would take Kakak & I on motorcycle to the beach. It was really nostalgia; embedded in our minds. That’s why we never forget to visit him.

Our epic group “selfie” or should I say “Groupfie”?? LOL! Hahhaah thanks Abang Pon for the idea! (,”). At Pak Long’s house in Telok Ayer Tawar, Butterworth in Penang.
To Telok Ayer Tawar, we visited Pak Long. It was nice to meet cousins Abang Pon and Kak Sarini. You know, we have been busy with life and work for the past one year so Aidilfitri is the only opportunity to meet up with relatives. We took the opportunity have an ‘insight talk’ about the recent MH370 & MH17 fiasco as Abang Pon is a Malaysian Airlines System steward. It was quite heart-wrenching to hear the raw stories behind the curtain. In addition we also get to meet Kak Izan, who is Mak Long’s adopted daughter & she was as lovely as she always is. (,”)

Pak Long’s entourage visiting us on 2nd Day Raya, Thanks for coming. It felt nice to rebonding with relatives and cousins after a year of non-existence!
Crossing the Melaka Straits simply for the delicious Laksa Penang! We went to Abang Zam’s friend’s house circa Batu Lanchang Market (Oh, I love Penang so much!!! My birthplace and hometown!) as the mom is a good Laksa cook! Yummy especially when you put the prawn paste (“otak udang”) in it!! Circa 10.30 p.m., we pushed home to Jitra. Driving around 2 hours upnorth, we finally reached home.

Beautiful Oryza Sativa at Kampung Senggora, Pendang!

At Abang Am’s house in Perlis.
On the 2nd Day of Aidilfitri, Pak Long & family came all the way from Telok Air Tawar to Jitra. As part of their Upnorth Raya stops, they came to Jitra first and it was nice to spend time with your relatives; just to keep abreast with what’s-hots-and-nots updates! In the evening, we went to Kampung Senggora, Pendang where Abang Zam’s sister resides. It is always a beautiful village; like an ideal Malay Kampung! We then went straight to Perlis to visit Abang Am who happened to be Kakak’s ex-UPM mate!

Looking at this picture making my mouth waters especially with the “Ikan Pekasam”!!!

Hahhahaah! Another “groupfie” with cousins; Abang Anuar and family! This season of Raya, Malaysians are all into this. Hahhaa, I have done this along time ago as an avid Camwhore! Hahaha!
On the 3rd Day of Aidilfitri, it was Mak Ngah Nah’s turn along with Abang Anuar and family and Kak Aida; minus Kak Alia’s family (she already went back to Telok Intan to her in-laws!) coming to Jitra. It was also great bonding time especially when Kak Hasni is also a teacher; so we talked about the reality of Malaysian school environment these days; and the possibility of me carving the path to another professional level & furthering PhD. So happened, that our former neighbor back in FRU Flat, Pak Cik Badang also visited us. I have no idea his real name but the nickname “Badang” was probably due to his enormous size or strength as “Badang” is a fictionalize character known for strength. Something like Hercules! Haha!

Pak Cik Badang; all the way from Langkawi. Malay Hercules? (,”)
Back in SK Serendah, we organized Aidifitri Classes Celebration for the pupils on the 15th August. It was when each classes was to conduct Aidilfitri celebration and brought along their food and donned their Raya costumes and attires. Kids loved it and teachers loved the food, too! Hahaha! Since this year, I am not appointed as the class teacher; I got my free time roaming around tasting food from each classes! Hahaha! It was nice! Love y’all my colleagues! I am sure to miss this atmosphere if I really going to quit being a teacher. But then, life goes on, right?

With the Year 6 boys. Time flies so fast and they are maturing! Eeeeek! And with 4 Mega.

With 5 Purnama & 4 Purnama.

Yummy!!! Looking at the pictures making my stomach HUNGRY!!

I find it hard to ignore these pictures. Such a waste not to upload. I love Malaysian food!!! Then what about the idea of furthering PhD abroad??? Hhahaha! Ooops!

“Nasi Tomato” or Tomato Rice. One of my most favourite Malay dish ever!

With colleagues – Ustaz Kamaruzzaman & Cikgu Fauzi Ameen.
And finally last week on the 21st August; BAKSI (Teacher’s Society) organized The Teacher’s Aidilfitri Celebration. It was simple but nice especially to know that the meals such as “Nasi Hujan Panas” & “Beehoon Sup” were hand-cooked by Kak Sarah, our BM Guru Cemerlang & Kak Faridah themselves!!!! Amazing!! Despite the hectic schedule, they managed to squeeze time and VERY DELICIOUS!!! Kudos & congratulations to BAKSI 2013/2014 for the nice event!

Cooked by Kak Sarah, Malay Language “Guru Cemerlang” & Kak Faridah; all by themselves for 100 people! And so delicious as well! Congratulations!!!

One for the album with colleagues – Faraen & Ustaz (again?!) Hahaha!

The Camwhore a.k.a. Selfie time. The grey hair is visible but well, you get some, you lost some. This is me at 30 years old. Where am I in the upcoming years, if I have long life? Goodness knows. Amin!
On whole, I think I had a blissful Syawal and what’s more, I managed to complete the “6 Days Fasting” in Syawal despite challenges and tiredness. Alhamdulillah!

Family portrait for the album. Who knows where will we celebrate our Raya in 2015? Hmmmm…. (,”)
