University Staff Advisory Committee

University Staff Advisory Committee Overview

The University Staff Advisory Committee (USAC) has been amplifying staff voices and advising Ohio State leadership since 1986. Through advocacy, collaboration, and open communication, USAC helps shape university decisions, supports professional growth, and fosters a stronger workplace for all staff.

Message from the Chair of the University Staff Advisory Committee

As we celebrate USAC’s 40th anniversary, I want to recognize the power of partnership and shared purpose at Ohio State. Our committee continues to advocate for staff priorities, strengthen connections across campus, and ensure staff voices are heard in university decision-making. This year, we have seen meaningful progress, from the adoption of permanent Academic Winter Recess to expanded staff senator terms, reflecting the impact of listening and collaboration.

I encourage all staff to stay engaged, share feedback, and help us build a community of excellence rooted in curiosity, respect, and people-centered work. Thank you for the many ways you continue to support our community and our shared work.

What is the University Staff Advisory Committee (USAC)?

We are an advisory body to university leadership. Comprised of members from across the university and medical center, our mission is to maintain an active and participatory line of communication with the university community and to provide a forum through which university staff can raise, discuss, and make recommendations to support the university’s mission.

Progress on 2025 Recommendations to Leadership

USAC continues to advance staff‑informed priorities through collaboration with university leadership, Human Resources, and partners throughout the university. Progress includes:

3 Compensation Equity

Continued focus on salary compression, transparency, and consistency across units.

4 Workplace Resource Navigation

Progress toward more coordinated, accessible tools to help staff connect with support.

5 Career Development

Advancing a more unified and visible approach to professional development opportunities.

USAC remains committed to transparency, accountability, and continued advocacy on issues that matter to Ohio State staff.
