We’re excited to announce VimConf 2025 Small, this year’s event held as a Japan Local Conference.
The conference is scheduled for 2025-11-02 (November 2, 2025), at Akihabara UDX — Akiba Hall in Tokyo.

Differences Between traditional VimConf and this VimConf 2025 Small

Background

This year, we set a condition for holding the conference:
VimConf 2025 would only be held if the total sponsorship commitments reached our target amount.

The announcement was delayed as we took time to assess the financial outlook and sustainability of the event.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the individuals and organizations who supported or considered supporting us.

Our evaluation revealed that holding VimConf in the same format as previous years would not be sustainable in the long term.

Therefore, we have decided to streamline the event—similar to VimConf 2023 tiny—and hold it as VimConf 2025 Small, scaling back certain aspects of the traditional VimConf format to ensure its future continuity.

It seems that the third-party ticket sales site Peatix has introduced a mechanism that restricts access to users residing in the US. According to Peatix, US residents can bypass this issue by taking either of the following actions:

• Change your browser’s user-agent to empty

We also call for 6 Lightning Talks (LT) for up to 5 minutes.

  • 15min, 20min, or 30min
• Language
  • The primary language for your slides has to be English
    • It does not mean you can’t write any Vim script in your slides
  • You can choose speech language either English or Japanese
    • We prepare real-time translation English -> Japanese and Japanese -> English.
  • We will review your slides.
    • We mainly review for copyright and CoC violations.
  • We can support presentation practice at online

VimConf 2024 will be on Nov 23, 2024 (Sat) in Akihabara, Tokyo, Japan!

Last year we took place VimConf for the first time after 4 years, and it was named VimConf 2023 Tiny.
It was a tiny build and then we reduced the talks and the number of attendees.
But it’s a normal build this year. You will enjoy Vim from morning to night (morning sessions + afternoon sessions + after party)

One person can purchase one ticket only. This is a bargain ticket that is same contents of Standard ticket. Standard ticket will be available in later.
