Christmas traditions

One of our favorite Christmas traditions is reading all of our children's Christmas books. Cade and Cassidy loved reading their Snowmen at Night and Snowmen at Christmas books tonight (by Caralyn Buehner). Hillary's favorite Christmas book this year is I Believe In Santa Claus, byDiane G. Adamson.

Yoda got a much needed bath! He's very proud of his new clean look! He's doing some fun tricks with Warren. We all enjoy him looking fluffy again and less mangey!

Cade Sniffing out a dirty diaper

When we suspect Luke is stinky- we have Cade investigate- although today Luke wasn't being very cooperative for him! Cade was chasing him around the house trying to get a good peek!

Scared of Santa

Cade was the only one of our kids brave enough to speak to Santa this year. Cassidy looked like a deer in headlights when asked what she wanted for Christmas. She was completely speechless! Luke wouldn't even LOOK at Santa! Cade made sure Santa knew he wanted a Spiderman toy and grabbed a candy cane and was on his way!

Lady Liberty

Cassidy's been learning about the Statue of Liberty. They did a class play about it. She LOVES to recite it at home! Here's Cassidy "Enlightening the World!" Do you see a resemblance?

Scrunchie Smiles

Image Cade's got Luke doing the scrunchie face smile for pictures now! Now we have two goofy guys in our photos!

Luke's discovered the television

Image

Image Luke loves to be just like his older brother, Cade. He'll even sit and watch TV to be like him now. He doesn't sit very long- but he enjoys hanging out to watch Tigger and Pooh. His favorite thing about the television is turning it on and off over and over to drive Mom crazy. He especially likes the holiday music channel, and starts dancing as soon as he flips the television on.

Lights at Temple Square

Go Cougs!

BYU sports had a great weekendImage- the highlight of course beating the Utes! We woke up at Darren's house to a Ute neighbor's decorations all over the lawn. After the game the boys had to rub it in a little and ran around like wild indians with their blue streamers yelling for BYU. The funniest part was they hadn't watched the game live- they watched it via DVR- so it wasn't until quite a bit after the game had ended that they started the parade. Julie and I got a pretty good laugh!

The other theme of the trip was getting to work their cars. Seems everyone had a problem. We got to know the local Auto Zone pretty well. Julie and I enjoyed glancing out the window every once in a while to see who's car they were under next. Fun times.

We got a chance to drive up to Logan and get the kids reaquainted with Chuck's parents- Great Grandpa and Great Grandma Hess.

Fun with the Nielsens

We miss our friends that used to live in our ward here in Merced! It's very convenient they live around the corner from my aunt so we can visit when we go to Utah!

Mimi and Pops came to visit

Image
We were happy to have Mimi and Pops come to see us. After breakfast Cade walked up to Pops and climbed on his lap and squeezes him around his neck and says, "Pops, I love you SOOO much!" Then after a couple minutes of talking he catches a glimpse of Pops' head, starts rubbing it and says, "OH, NO!Image Pops! You don't have too much hair on your head!" Then he puts his hands on Pops' face and says, "OH, NO! Pops! You lost your beard!!" Apparently, this was something Cade had never realized. I don't think Pops has had a beard since long before his Grandpa days began. Pops was a great sport and we had a good laugh. The boys really enjoyed this tub (or "pirate boat") Mimi brought for us.

Trunk or Treat

We had a great time at our Trunk or Treat. The kids dressed up as the characters from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Cassidy was Lucy, Cade was Edmond and Luke was Aslan the Lion. There was a dance following and the kids were a crack up with their moves!
