Update

I thought since so many of my friends kept up on their blogs, I would give it a go. We now do have 5 children, and they are all amazing and wonderful! Makenlie has been a true joy, she is our most loving of babies, she loves to cuddle all the time! We have also started to do foster care, and have been taking care of a little girl for over 6 months now. Our lives have gotten busy, but we love our family, and our crazy lives! Julian and I just celebrated our 10 year anniversary! We are going to go to Portland to celebrate a kid free weekend, and attend the Temple together. We are also now planning a trip to California for my nieces and nephew's graduation. We are going to Disneyland while we are down there! I'm excited for the trip. My sister in law Denise and her family, as well as Julian's parents will be in Disneyland the same time, so we will be able to enjoy this exciting trip with them. Life is good, and we will post tons of pictures when we get back from our trips!

pregnancy update

since I haven't blogged in a long time, I thought I would give people an update.  We found out almost 8 weeks ago that we are having another...
GIRL
little Julian was VERY upset to find out it was a girl, but he is good with it now. We have chosen the name Makenlie for our little girl (pernounced the same as McKenzie only with a L instead of a Z) I think we will use Kamdyn for her middle name.  Other than getting very sick last week, the pregnancy has been going very well. The doctor does believe she will come early like all four of the others, however he is hopeful that we can get her to go further then the rest.

pregnancy update

we went in last week to hear the heart beat, the doctor had a hard time finding the heart beat, so we had an ultrasound and the baby is looking great!  The baby has a good strong heart beat, and is still measuring on schedule!

scary times, but everything will work out

I woke up wednesday and discovered that I was spotting/bleeding. I instantly started crying and knew a miscarriage was in my near future. by wednesday night nothing had happened, and the bleeding had stopped so I went in to see what was going on. I discovered my little peanut STILL HAS A HEART BEAT! I went to my ob yesterday and he said everything looks great and he said I have a 5% chance or less of a misscarriage

2009 in a nutshell

I just realized that I have began to measure the new year not by the end of the calendar year but instead by the start of tax season. This is because it completely changes our family life.

During tax season I work from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and then a couple of hours Saturday morning (6 a.m. – 11 a.m.). I do this so that I am away from my family as little as possible during their waking hours. For the rest of the year I get 10 to 11 weeks of vacation time. You see, I earn an hour for every hour of overtime I work; which makes tax season much easier to bear. And, this is on top of the 3 weeks of vacation time they give us to start out with. So, I get close to 3 months of vacation to use over a 9 month period.

Tomorrow is the first day of what I consider to be my tax season. Hence, it is now officially 2010. This has caused me to look back at 2009 and all the things that we did.

Disclaimer: This list is not all inclusive. The list has been made up of pictures taken throughout the year. If for any reason you feel upset that you weren’t included in our 2009 memories, please make sure to invite yourself into any pictures that we take in the future.

Starting off our 2009 memories is a trip I wasn’t able to go on. Bonnie decided to get out of the house and take the kids to Newport with her parents while I was busy last tax season.

The next big thing (that we had pictures of) was the girls’ birthday party. This year Sierra (5/10 birthday), Abigail (June 18th birthday), and Aubrie (May 9th birthday) had a joint Luau birthday party. This was because we didn’t have time to throw 3 birthday parties and plan our trip to Maui.

Image We had catered food from John Sepulveda and a snow cone machine for the kids. We had over 60 people there.

At the end of June we took the entire family to Maui. Many people thought we were crazy but we couldn’t have done it without my parents help. Before leaving for Maui I got my scuba diving certification; something I have always wanted to learn.

Image This was a free hula show at a strip mall. They were really good. They started their own Luau the month after this.

Image The kids got to hang out with their Uncle Todd that lives there. However, I don’t think Julian remembered his name until the last day of the trip. He kept calling him uncle Kevin (sorry Todd).

ImageIoa Valley state park is a must see

ImageMy first time getting in the water. Abigail watched me for about five minutes and then decided she wanted to join me. We were jumping the waves

This was taken at turtle town. We saw four or five turtles in one snorkeling trip
ImageThis was a big shark that was resting in a coral cave

ImageThis was a small shark that didn’t seem to be afraid of us

We went to the beach five times this year not including the Hawaii trip. It’s much easier to go when you don’t have a baby under 1. We went to Tillamook & Astoria, Newport, and Florence the rest of the times.

Image Abigail loved milking the cow at the tilamook cheese factory. We just happened to be there during the 100th anniversary party of the Tillamook county creamery assoc. so they had a lot of stuff for the kids to do.

Image The kids loved touring the factory

ImageThis is the Jail from the Goonies movie. We watched the movie a couple of times with the kids before making the trip so they recognized it. We also saw Data’s house, the main Goonies house, the museum where the Dad worked, and the kindergarten cop gradeschool

ImageOn one of the trips to Florence we took bella with us. She loved running around on the dunes

Image Abigail and her cousin Cassie playing in the ocean near Florence. Quite a bit colder than in Hawaii

This summer was also filled with concerts. We won tickets to see Katy Perry (Bonnie went with Cassie), Miley Cyrus (Bonnie went with Sierra), The Fray (Bonnie and I), and some country singer I cant remember. The Katy Perry tickets included a backstage pass where Bonnie and Cassie got to go to a meet and greet with Katy but they weren’t allowed to take pictures.

This year was Julian's first Father and Son campout. He loved it. As part of the campout there was also a court of honor for three scouts getting their eagle

Image It’s customary to tear up and burn an old flag at the ceremony so Julian was excited to be a part of that

Image All the boys were getting walking sticks. Julian was excited that he got the biggest one (with a little help from Dad)

Image Julian’s first time making a smore on his own
No pics posted but Abigail and Julian went to the same preschool this year. Reminder for next year: take them outside to take a picture long before its time to go. Their eyes hadn’t adjusted to the sun yet so all the pictures we got are of them squinting.

It’s embarrassing to say but this year was the first year the kids carved their own pumpkins. Thanks to Terry and Chris for volunteering their house. It was also the first year that all of our kids were really into getting the candy. In the past, we have always had one that didn’t quite understand what was going on. Aubrie knew it was her candy and she didn’t want to share.

Image Julian wasn’t too sure about getting messy

Image He tried it once and then decided to go with a spoon

Image Aubrie however thought it was great

Image She was even willing to help Sierra

Image Abigail was much more into eating cookies and watching everyone else do the work. Every picture that was taken had her with a different cookie in her hand

Image On our way to trick or treat

ImageOnce Aubrie realized what she was getting at each house she couldn’t wait
And, you cant miss going to the Springfield Christmas parade or seeing Santa during December. If you’ve never been to the Christmas parade it’s a must for 2010. Its much less commercialized and political then the Eugene Celebration parade.

Image Aubrie and Cassie waving high to a float

Image Abigail and her cousin Ben watching the parade

Image The kids petting a dog in the parade
Image The kids talking with Santa. They had already seen him three or four times but this was the first time they were all dressed up

Image This picture turned out much better than I had hoped. When I took Aubrie the last time to see santa she started crying. However, as I started to take this picture their Aunt Chris just happened to showed up right behind me and Aubrie got really excited
Last but not least, my parents left on a mission to Florida. They are being a great example for all of their grandkids and I am very happy for them. I know that they will have a great time.

So, what is in store for us for 2010? We’re currently planning a trip to Disneyland and hope to be able to go up to the snow before I get too busy. Abigail is now a sunbeam and in primary along with her older brother and sister. She is so excited.

Bonnie got a little sad when she realized that in the next decade it’s possible (hopefully not probable) that we could be grandparents (Sierra will be almost 21 by 2020). We will also have two kids driving, three going to mutual, and I will be turning 40 (with Bonnie close behind; 4 months past the end of the decade).

Hopefully next year I will be able to just post a link to everything that happened like my friends the Wilbergers did. However, for that we would have to keep the blog updated. I’m not going to make a resolution of that because it will never be kept.

Below are a couple of pictures I was playing around with in Photoshop. That program can do anything.
