An Answer to a prayer

ImageImage This last week was an answer to a prayer. No one can probably tell when you look at both of these pictures, but in the second one I probably just look like I just have gained a bunch of weight. I can tell a few changes like a wider face and neck. I have but I've been going crazy this last year wondering why I would go on a long run (10 miles) and gain weight. I thought it might be my thyroid last year only to be told by quite a condescending doctor that I just need to exercise and eat better. Really running ten miles in a day is not a good exercise program. This wasn't the only problem. I would go to bed at 10 and try to sleep and really wouldn't be able to go to sleep and get a restful sleep. I was depressed and exhausted all the time. I was losing hair and would have bouts of anxiety that were awful. I seriously spent most of this last year on the couch watching tv. Then I thought it might be hormones. My doctor gave some hormones and said I was low in Vitamin D. Yay, with these items I could now sleep again (for awhile anyway). I felt much better now that I actually slept during the night. I had little bit more energy but still didn't feel like myself. My belly was growing like I was pregnant also. No I wasn't even close to being pregnant. Finally my neighbor talked about this amazing nurse practioner that really cared and would try and dig find out what was going on with her patients. So a month ago I went to her at this point the no sleeping was back. By now I was either taking sleeping pills or melatonin to help me sleep. I didn't want to go back to the no sleeping depression hole that felt like the bad baby blues when I had my children. This nurse actually listened to me felt my neck said it was swollen took my blood and checked my thyroids TS 3 and TS 4 levels and guess what I do have problem with my thyroid its Hypothyroid. I can tell that my neck is a little thicker in the Hawaii picture and that my face is fatter. I have to take medicine for the rest of my life and have to change a lot of my eating habits but I knew something was wrong. I'm thankful someone finally believed me instead of thinking I was an idiot. It will take awhile for me to feel and look normal possibly 3 to 6 mos. The doctor explained that the fixing the thyroid would be like starting up an engine. I'm certainly excited by the changes though and hoping I will feel like myself soon.

An Update

This Update was actually written in February Since my younger boys are sick and I'm feeling a little bit under the weather too I thought I would give a little update. Matt - Is 4 almost 5 next month keeps us all laughing. He's a crazy one. The other day when Derek finished his cross country race Derek went to hug him and Matt called him a "sweaty pig". I guess Derek was pretty sweaty. This year he gets to go to preschool Miss Nicoles Busy Bees to be exact. He doesn't always want to go, just because he wants to stay home and be lazy. But what he does love is hanging out with a new friend named David. David turned five a few months ago, but who knew you could have 2 sarcastic and jokester little kids. The thing that Matt also loves is our new next door neighbors Ethan 8, Pierce 6, Davis 3, and Roxie 2. Matt's 2 best friends are David and Davis. He has more freedom at 4 years old than my other children, because there are usually 2 or 3 of them playing together. Adam - 7 almost 8 in April is anticipating getting baptized. He also loves playing with the neighbors. Ethan and Pierce are his friends. He either plays with both of them or its nice to have someone to play with if the one of them has to practice the piano. I think are neighbors are a godsend. Besides being great people, its helped Adam tremendously. He gets frustrated with school and doesn't always understand what the teacher has taught. I just figured out that some of that might be because he cant see. I'm hoping to pick up his new glasses tomorrow. He was coming home looking like he was straining his eyes and had an awful lot of headaches. Both boys have fun with the neighbors once they knock on the door and are able to play at our house its the rule that they can come in and out without knocking. Shay - 12 Is still a social butterfly and basically cares about social life more than anything else. Especially grades. Her friends and her are back and forth. Sometime they are friends and the next day they won't be. Her emotions at this age are crazy. My husband has always questioned whether hormones actually can change a person or if they have a choice. Well most times Shay is crying about butterflies dying or something off the wall. Hmmmm I say to Mark see hormones might just make a difference. Derek - 14 Likes to hang out with a group in our ward joking around playing video games all together. He is a fast runner and can run a mile in about 5 min 10 seconds. He is taking some honors classes. He most often thinks Mark and I have absolutely no idea what were talking about. We know nothing and have never been his age. Me - had kidney stones and am trying to keep up with helping Adam and Shay with school. I am trying to figure out my health. This year I've had no energy and some nights I can't sleep and feel dead during the day. I've been wondering if its my thyroid. It was enlarged the doctor found a lump but it wasn't anything to be worried about. If its not that whats wrong. I also have gained about 15 pounds even though I still exercise and it doesn't come off. I've changed my eating habits too and have not eaten perfectly but most days I am very careful. So if its not my thyroid what is wrong. I'm going to get a second opinion and see whats going on. UGH Mark - is in the middle of tax season and that means work work for him. I am hoping that he will be able to get someone to help him out next year. He never sleeps this time of year maybe two to three hours a night or no sleep at all. Ugh to that too.;)

Camp 2013 Stand Ye In Holy Places

A few months ago I was a Beehive advisor for about a year. In February I got asked if I could be a Cub scout leader and that same week was hit with kidney stones. It felt like I had been hit with 2 sucker punches because I had put my whole heart in this calling. I love these girls and I'm lucky to know that they love me too! I was given a tender mercy though and was asked to be the assistant camp director. It was this last Thur - Sat. So much fun! I also got a spiritual renewal and have renewed strength to stand and do my best to follow the savior. We go to Camp Lomia where I went as a young girl where I believe my own testimony began. A very special place. This was Shay's 1st year too! I watched tears streaming down her face during testimony meeting and couldn't help but feel immense joy knowing she believes too! Shay had an absolute blast but is moving into that mom your embarrassing the heck out of me stage so please don't come so too close.Image Image Image Image Image toothpaste on your face keeps the snipes away

Last weekend was the AZ Ragnar. Mark and I each went and ran 16+ miles by the time it was done. Ragnar is a 2 day event that starts on Friday morning and usually ends in the late aftn on Saturday. The Ragnar team usually consists of 12 people and two cars. While the 1st 6 people are running the second van gets to rest. Then when the 1st van gets done its time for the 2nd van to take over.
I was somewhat nervous about running my legs and going with people we didnt know that well, but it ended up being a blast. Everyone we went with was crazy, funny, and laid back. Which works perfectly for a race like this, since your stuck in a car for the two days with each other. Might as well have a good time. This was done back in February 2012. Finally finished it with pictures and posted it.

New Pictures of Derek

As soon as I published the pictures of the other kids, I knew I really wanted some pictures of Derek. So I had my friend Jen Dille take some of him. I think she did a fabulous job. I think he looks pretty handsome, if I say so myself:)

Shay's Homework

Last week for homework Shay had to write Halloween words to an existing song. She chose the song Dynamite by Taio Cruz and these are the words we came up with together. We were pretty happy with how it ended up. Here's the real song for the tune.

I came to spook, spook, spook, spook,
I hit the neighborhood
Cause that’s me trying to get my loot, loot, loot, loot
I’m wearing all my favorite
Suits, suits, suits, suits
Cause that’s me trying to look cute, cute, cute, cute

It goes eek and eek and eek
And it goes eek and eek and eeeek

I throw my candy in the air sometimes
Saying Boo
Gotta spook
I want to celebrate and eat my candy
Saying Boo
Baby, ooooo

Cause we gon Trick or Treat
We gon’ go all night
We’re gonna fright it up
Like it’s Halloween night
Cause I told you once
And I told you twice
We’re gonna fright it up
Like it’s Halloween night

I came to party, party, party, party
Get out of my way so I won’t be tardy, tardy, tardy, tardy
I’m on the street so I’m going to boo, boo, boo, boo, boo
Cause, that’s what I came here to do, do, do, do

Ye, ye

Cause it goes eek and eek and eeek
And it goes eek and eek and eeek

Yeah!

I throw my candy in the air sometimes
Saying Boo
Gotta spook
I want to celebrate and eat my candy
Saying Boo
Baby, ooooo

Cause we gon Trick or Treat
We gon’ go all night
We’re gonna fright it up
Like it’s Halloween night
Cause I told you once
And I told you twice
We’re gonna fright it up
Like it’s Halloween night

I’m gonna take it all like
I’m gonna be the last one Trick or Treating
I’m all alone and I
I’m gonna be the last one eating
Cause I, I, I, believe it
And I, I, I
Want to achieve it
I just want it all, I just want it all
The candy is so rare
I don’t want to share
So put your candy in the air

I throw my candy in the air sometimes
Saying Boo
Gotta spook
I want to celebrate and eat my candy
Saying Boo
Baby, ooooo

Cause we gon Trick or Treat
We gon’ go all night
We’re gonna fright it up
Like it’s Halloween night
Cause I told you once
And I told you twice
We’re gonna fright it up
Like it’s Halloween night
