Timeless Moments Await!
UTD's women-driven tech organizations are excited to join forces and present our 24-hour hackathon uniting women and non-binary students. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment that highlights and empowers women, femme, and non-binary students through technology. We aim to encourage more underrepresented individuals to harness their skills by creating software or hardware projects of their own. Whether it's networking with sponsors and hackers, gaining development and workshop experience, or competing against other teams for challenges and prizes, WEHack offers participants an opportunity to end the weekend with unique takeaways.
This year, our theme is Timeless Moments Await! For this year, develop an application that follows our theme 'Timeless Momements Await.' Incorporate the past, present, and future to spark meaningful connections, enhance everyday experiences, and unlock new possibilities.

Verizon Challenge
Overview:
Verizon is committed to delivering reliable, high-performance wireless service. Maintaining and expanding our network requires efficient and safe cell tower inspections and site surveys. Traditional methods are time-consuming, expensive, and potentially hazardous.
Challenge Statement:
We challenge you to reimagine our cell tower inspection and deployment using drone technology, computer vision, AI, and data analysis. Develop a tool that automates the analysis of drone-captured imagery to assess tower health, identify construction anomalies, and optimize antenna placement for maximum coverage and performance. Integrate a user-friendly interface with natural language processing to provide actionable insights and recommendations based on the collected data.
Prizes:
$250 Amazon Gift Card per member
$125 Amazon Gift Card per member
CBRE Challenge
Challenge Statement: Your task is to build a simple-to-use app (web or mobile) that acts like a smart detective. Your app should help people spot hidden risks in investments early so they can make safer, smarter financial decisions.
Here’s what your app might do:
- Gather and Analyze Data: Find useful information from different sources and make sense of it.
- Predict Risks: Spot patterns and warn users about possible future issues.
- Simplify Complex Information: Turn complicated investment data into clear, easy-to-follow advice.
Example Solutions:
- An app that gathers historical stock market data and news headlines to predict short-term
stock price movements, helping users make informed decisions quickly.
- A mobile application that identifies and warns users about unusual investment patterns or
suspicious activities by analyzing transaction histories and market trends.
- A web-based predictive model that uses AI to analyze global economic indicators, company
financial health, and social media sentiment to provide detailed risk assessments for investments.
Expectations: We are looking for practical, user-friendly solutions that clearly demonstrate their usefulness. Your app should help ordinary people quickly understand investment risks, guiding them toward smarter financial choices.
Evaluation Criteria:
1. Creativity & Innovation: Unique and smart ideas for identifying risks.
2. Accuracy & Reliability: How well your app predicts risks.
3. Ease of Use: Simple and intuitive interface anyone can understand.
4. Real-world Usefulness: How effectively your app helps people make safer investment
decisions.
5. Presentation Quality: Clear and professional demonstration of your idea.
