It's a winter wonderland!!

Image

It snowed this weekend!! Hooray!! Peter loves the snow. Leslie loves it as long as she doesn't have to be outside in it (brrrrrr... who likes to be cold?? Oh yeah... Peter...). Harrison is... well, mostly confused by it!

Image

I took Harrison outside to experience snow for the first time, and I think for the most part he liked it. He only wanted to look around at it - to get a good picture I had to move to where he was looking. I put these baby mittens on his hands (it was really cold out!) that didn't have any thumbs on them and all he wanted to do was touch the snow. Poor baby, I could see his fists opening and closing under those mittens, but the mittens didn't budge. He kept looking at me as if to tell me, "Something is not right here..." Without fingers and thumbs he just couldn't get a good grip! I didn't want him to have freezing cold, wet hands so I didn't take the mittens off... Silly paranoid mommy. Luckily we live in Utah. He'll get plenty of chances to touch snow this season!

7 months old

Today Harrison is 7 months old! We combed his hair like a big boy for the special occasion:

Always with the fingers in the mouth...

Here is Harrison playing with his toys, out to show mommy that he is big enough to do it by himself. I put the box in front of him, and he chooses a toy to play with. When he gets bored, he reaches in a grabs a new one. It's fun to watch what he chooses and what he pushes to the side. It wasn't until after I snapped all of these pictures that I realized his favorite toys are his books! If I've said it once, I've said it a million times... We're raising a genius child!

My boys...

Here are my boys - all laid back and watching TV. Harrison loves TV, as you can see. I love the way he's leaning on Peter with one arm, legs are spread, and his belly is sticking out - completely relaxed - as if to say, "Ahhhhh... life is good!"

Gotta love those Cougars

I know, I know... Another post about BYU. What can I say? I can't help myself. Just look at this fan and you'll see why I have this problem:

Image

BYU played TCU tonight, and Peter and Harrison were all ready to watch the Cougars. Look at Harrison's stinkin' adorable hat he just got from his cousin Eliza. It says "Future Cougar" on it, and in the back it says "Go Coogs" (it's fitted). It really is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my entire life. And thanks to Auntie Aimee, he also has a "Victory Party in my Crib" BYU shirt. This little fan in the making is to die for!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Image

... Well not so much outside, but everywhere we look people are getting ready for the holidays. The stores in the mall, the ads in the paper, even Costco has their decorations out. Not that we don't love Thanksgiving - don't worry we'll celebrate the day by remembering all we are thankful for, all we've been blessed with, and by stuffing ourselves until we are sick. In fact, we are really looking forward to it!

Nothing beats Christmas though. We are getting so excited and so anxious for the season that we decided to break out the Christmas blog. Now every time you visit you will be filled with Christmas spirit and holiday joy! (or something like that....)

Enjoy the festive new blog!

Happy Halloween!

Here it is, the moment you've all been waiting for.... (and only a few days late)

Introducing the world's cutest giraffe!!!!

Image

What a cutie. Sorry for the picture overload, I just couldn't decide which one was my favorite to share. I took him our on our balcony and I couldn't get him to look at the camera - he was too busy looking over the edge. So I ended up with this one that looks like a giraffe in a cage at the zoo. Oh well, now you can see the cute tail on his costume.

Image

On Halloween we went to Peter's work party to show off our little giraffe, and then to visit Great-Grandma Wride. Harrison was a good sport. He gave a couple, "You've got to be kidding me, Mom" looks, but for the most part smiled and had a good time rolling around on Grandma's green carpet.

On Monday we went to Lizzy's house to carve pumpkins. Here is Harrison pretending to have a good time:

B - Y - U ! ! !

Rise and shout, the cougars are out...

Image

And Harrison is well along the trail to becoming a Cougar fan. BYU takes on Eastern Washington today, and Peter and his fan in training will be front and center to watch the game. Well, as front and center as they can get... No tickets to the game and no Comcast makes Grandma Wride's house the place to be as the Cougars beat the Eagles. Thank goodness she get the channel that shows BYU games - Peter and Harrison would be in serious trouble if not. Or would Leslie be the one in trouble listening to the moaning, groaning, and whining from two boys that weren't able to see the game? Hmmmmm.... Hooray for Grandma Wride!

Bu - bu - bu - bubbly bubbles

Hehehe... Look at that cute nakie bum... (Later in life Harrison will kill his mommy for posting these pictures :)

Here's Harrison getting ready to take the plunge.

Image

A few nights ago he decided to make bath time very tricky for his daddy by trying to suck on his toes the whole time he was in his tub. It was so funny to watch - we'd pull his foot down, and he'd stick it right back up. It was like it was on springs. Look at him all laid back and chillin' in his tub. Arm out, foot up... life is good.

5 Months Old

I'm five months old today, and look what I can do!

Image
5 months already?! Harrison is all about being a big boy. He wants to stand up, not lay down; be at the table with mommy and daddy, not on the floor; eat real food, not baby stuff; and now sitting up! I swear if he could run around and play he would. At a friend's house the other day he watched 2 two year old boys running and playing and he just smiled the whole time. I thought for a moment he was going to jump off my lap and join in the fun - he looked like he wanted to play so bad! He is so observant and curious. He wants to see everything and touch everything. He will fight sleep for hours just so he doesn't miss out on what's going on. Everything goes into his mouth, his new favorite being his toes. He is wiggly and giggly and downright adorable! Every time we look at him we can hardly believe how big he is getting, and at least once a day one of us looks at the other and says, "Harrison is so cute!"

Big Boy

My the days seem to be going fast... Only two days until October! How did that happen?!? Am I just on mommy time, where you blink and suddenly it's been 5 months, or is the time passing this quickly for everyone?

Harrison is getting so big. And I'm pretty sure he thinks he's bigger than he really is. He is such a busy-body - can't sit still for anything. If you set him on the floor he thinks he needs to roll away (making for tricky diaper changes these days...), if you sit him up on the couch he thinks he needs to arch backward, if you sit him in his bumbo chair he thinks he needs to turn around to grab something... He is always moving, always looking, always grabbing for something. Everything goes straight to his mouth now, I'm sure to soothe those teething gums, but his teeth are protesting and I don't think they will EVER come. Sigh...

Image

Here is little busy-boy's latest trick. He LOVES his swing, but now thinks he's too big to do it baby style. No more laying back and relaxing for this baby. He leans forward and sits up like a big boy! To do what? Well to grab the bars that support the swing of course! He can reach them pretty good, and yes can even grab hold. He then looks at me and starts to pout as if to say, "I'm not swinging any more!" The frown quickly melts away and he's back to work as soon as I pry his fingers off the bar and give him a push to get going again. When he gets bored with one side, he switches and reaches for the other. Silly baby...
