LANSING, MI — The MichiganHouse advanced a long-running fight over deer management this week, approving a bill that would legalize Lower Peninsula deer baiting during hunting seasons and limit a state commission’s authority to ban the practice.
The current penalty for baiting or feeding deer in the Lower Peninsula — where it is banned with some limited exceptions — is a 90-day misdemeanor, with a fine between $50 and $500.
