Is this the next best wrestling company in the 6ix?

uppose even a tiny fraction of you is interested in wrestling or suppose you’re the biggest wrestling fan in the world. We’ve got you covered if you’re looking to get your fix for the hottest wrestling company in Toronto.
Last Sunday at 501 Alliance Ave in Toronto, fans eager to see some top American wrestling stars were given a show like no other.
Superkick’d Pro Wrestling Rock Show first started in 2015 and is based primarily in Ontario. Superkick’d have a featured roster of independent talent as well as former major WWE and AEW talent.
Now with their first big event since the pandemic under their belt, they are on track to become one of the most loved wrestling companies in Toronto.

Up close and personal
If you’ve never been to a wrestling event before, attending an event like this might just change your mind.
Superkick’d isn’t your typical stadium show; fans get to be up close and personal with the wrestlers in the ring, giving the crowd a more intimate and action-packed experience.
Last Sunday was no different as fans were lined on every side of the ring, cheering every move set and flip. Looking away even for a second could mean missing the chance to dodge out of the way of wrestlers flying into the crowd.
To paint a picture, as a fan, you could touch the ropes while a match was happening.
Superkick party
The wrestling event started with tons of smoke and lights, as a wrestling event should. The first match featured a referee with no legs and a wrestler dressed like Spiderman. This first match was fast paced Lucha style and even had people who usually don’t watch wrestling on the edge of their seats.
The best part of being a fan close to the ring was being able to be front and center for when the flips happened to the outside, making you feel like you were a part of the match as well.
The event had all types of weight classes and action, from Lucha libre to a triple threat women’s match, all-out brawls in and around the ring to the loudest chaps and slaps that had the crowd wincing in sympathy for the participants.
The seventh match had our unexpected attention as an event called ‘seven in the six’ took place. Seven wrestlers entered the tiny squared ring that was seemingly way to small to handle a match of that size. The bodies in the ring ranged from 300 to 600 pounds, with the action being in and around the ring. There is nothing quite like seeing seven grown men toss each other around a ring, knowing that only one will come out on top.
There is something about not just being at a small venue wrestling event but also being right next to the ring that made you feel everything the wrestlers felt. At times it was intimidating, but more often than not, it made you feel like you were a part of the action
The sixth match was a tag team match and brought some nostalgia for the millennials in the crowd as PJ Phil from YTV was one of the athletes performing. Though Phill just recently got into wrestling, he was already a fan favourite. Despite his much smaller frame, he was able to stand his ground in the ring and let us witness his fighting spirit. This match presented an exciting dynamic of sizes and also some thumb tacks on the canvas for the finish. At the end of the match, Phil picked up the win with his partner ‘Psycho Mike’ as he held up his broken tag team title.

House of black
The ninth match of the night was the main event and a major draw for wrestling fans from all over. The crowd arrived in anticipation of the final match that would feature wrestling star Malakai Black and his team of Buddy Mathews and Brody King, known to fans as ‘The House of Black’.
This group of misfits from major American wrestling company All Elite Wrestling may have brought in new Superkick’d fans, but their opponent’s Superkick’d vets Mark Wheeler, Kris Chambers, and Jessie V will surely bring them back.
This was definitely the match of the night and seemed to happen all over the building. From non-stop action and dives out to the audience, this was a fight not even the ring could contain. Audience members needed to be on high alert as full-grown men were constantly being thrown overhead.
For many, it was surreal to get to witness these prominent American wrestlers get to feature their talents in such an intimate setting.
When I caught up to House of Black for comments on the show, they told me the whole night for them was ‘personal’, ‘intimate’ and ‘electric’, and I couldn’t have agreed more
The House of Black proved why they are some of the best in the world, while also helping to put Superkick’d on the map for new fans who are now itching for more.
That night Superkick’d brought an experience to new and old wrestling fans like no other. And, thanks to some new eyes, high praise, the intimate setting, and undeniable thrill, they are a must see. Superkick’d is a company to watch out for, as they promise to keep bringing that high energy entertainment to fans all over Toronto.

Art in a cup; a guide to creating the perfect latte

Decemeber 20, 2022
The secret to a great latte isn’t in the milk or how long it took to make it, but rather in the beans themselves and how the coffee was extracted. For centuries, espresso has been around, even dating back to the early 20th century when it was invented in Venice, Italy. Even then, creating the best shot was an artform, and it still is to this day.
Coffee’s role in our health has been a discussion for decades. Recently, studies on the health benefits of drinking the beverage reveal that the positives outweigh the negatives. Frank Hu, chair of the Department of Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health has said that the overall evidence has been pretty convincing that coffee has been more healthful than harmful in terms of health outcomes. Hu stated, “In the past, I think a lot of people thought, ‘Oh, coffee’s so delicious, there must be something bad about coffee and so I think the good news is that [for] most people, coffee actually confers some health benefits.”
With that said there is no better time to invest in an espresso machine and create the perfect latte. In saying that, when first trying to create the best tasting espresso or latte, it is important to start with the beans. This is not just for a particular taste but because better quality beans, make better quality coffee. The steps to creating a coffee bean for this type of drink, start with the harvesting of the seed that will eventually turn to a coffee cherry. This takes around 3-4 years, primarily in dry countries like Brazil or Mexico. Then, once the cherries have been gathered, an age-old method is used in which farmers leave the cherries for a couple of days. After the drying method comes removing the entire dried husk, polishing, and sorting the beans for export.
Now with the beans in your possession after their long journey, you can create the perfect espresso. First, always start with grinding whole beans because the oils that give coffee its range of flavor start to dissolve as soon as it is ground. With your beans in the grinder, now insert the portafilter and push start to begin grinding. When creating the best latte, start with a double shot of espresso. This works out to be 18-20 grams of dry coffee, with 19 being a good medium for a typical regular sized beverage. Once the dry coffee is in the brewing head, take the tamper to pack down as so the hot water can distribute evenly. Now insert the portafilter into the brewing head to the machine and turn on the switch to have the water start flowing. The hot water will take a bit of time to run through the grinds as they are packed in. Make sure to measure your shot so you can turn off the switch of the machine at 30 grams of espresso.
With your double shot espresso now in the cup, it is time for the milk. The trick to the milk is more in the wrist when it comes to getting the perfect texture, especially if one is looking to design with it. Simply fill up the pitcher with the milk of your choosing. It is important to keep in mind that different types of milk will produce different textures. Tilt the pitcher slightly until the milk is just at the spout, and then insert the milk under the steamer creating a whirlpool effect until the pitcher becomes too hot to handle. Once the milk is done steaming, the texture should look glossing and shinning as that is prime milk to design with. It is always best to practise with soap and water at first as that mixture mirrors the milk in the steaming process. Now it is time to design, and to do that you need to take the steamed milk and pour it into the cup of espresso, with the milk hitting the middle of the cup. Do this just until you start to see a white circle of milk. At this point, you can move the spout of the pitcher towards the left of the cup in order to pour the milk in the shape of a heart. Once you have that great-tasting latte prepared, all it needs is a dash of love, and then you can officially call yourself a barista.

One pint of blood, can save three lives, please donate
Shyun A
Decemeber 25, 2022

At age 8, Ashley Carter was doing something unlike most other 8-year-olds, fighting for her life. It was at 8 years old and one summer evening in 2020, when Carter was hit by a drunk driver. If you look at Carter today with her 10-year-old fighting spirit, you would have never guessed she had overcome such obstacles. It was because of the quick thinking of the doctors at Grand River Hospital, but especially the many pints of blood donated to Canadian Blood Services that Carter had a fighting chance. Carters mother Cindy praised the blood donors saying: “Blood donors are the real heroes.”
We strive to always have at least 20,000 to 25,000 units of blood to meet a patient’s needs in situations like Carter’s. Roughly every minute of every day someone in Canada needs blood. Just one pint of blood alone can potentially save up to three lives and it only takes 10 minutes to donate. Currently, due to the pandemic, there has been a decrease in blood donations all over Canada, and so we ask those who are willing and ready to help to take some time to donate blood today. Typically, the average adult has about 10 pints of blood in their body and during a donation, one pint is taken. And it doesn’t stop there, because a healthy donor can donate read blood cells once every 56 days, double red blood cells once every 112 days, and platelets once every 7 days. Canadian Blood Services are calling upon young adults in the waterloo region who are willing to come out and donate blood, so they too can help save a life. It takes lives, to save lives. CEO of Canadian Blood Services, Dr. Graham Sher says we are trusting too much on the small number of regular donors to come in more frequently to meet demand. “We need to be able to rely on a larger group of people with a lower frequency.”
Around 50% of Canadians will need or know some who needs blood at some point in their life. However, only 4% of us who are eligible to donate actually do, so it’s time we change the stat and save a life, or several. When we think of donating blood, we should think of Carter and others who have fought to survive. Donate for her. If she can fight to live, we can do our small part to help. The idea is not to live forever but to help another live longer. Donate blood and help the next Carter fight like an 8-year-old can.
