Earlier this month, Lydia and Hannah had a cello concert. It was Hannah's first one! They both did a wonderful job!

Lots of fun! We ended the summer with a last hurrah, and rode the train to the circus. While there we were able to enjoy snowcones. (When I was little, we got to go to the circus once, and we got snowcones, so I had to pass on the memory!)
School has started in full swing. The girls were excited to start and have had a great week so far. They both have great teachers and so we are very happy.

Rachel fell outside on the driveway, and fractured her wrist. She now gets to show off her lovely cast for three long weeks!

Trip to Chicago

Image Image Image

Aaron recently had a conference for work in Chicago. Rachel and I tagged along. Needless to say, we had a wonderful time. Our Hotel was very close to Lake Michigan and the Chicago Navy Pier. Rachel and I walked down to the pier everyday. We rode the train and then caught a bus to get to our hotel from the airport. It was fun to not worry about everyday activities and to be able to relax! Rachel also enjoyed all of the attention she received. One thing we enjoyed at the pier was a stained-glass museum. it is amazing to see what can be done with glass!

Cello Festival

Lydia recently had a music festival through school. She was able to take classes from a suzuki teacher who is from Chicago. They ended the festival with a concert. This is the portion where Lydia is playing. All of the students play together. We are glad that our school offers programs like this. It is truly an amazing program!

I am a little bit behind on my blogging. Here are pictures from Jenny's Birthday. Her birthday was on a Sunday, so we were limited with what we could do for activities. However, she did have fun blowing bubbles and eating her Lemon meringue pie! I think that it was a successful day.

Dress-up Day

Lydia's school had Character dress-up day. She chose to be the Cat in the Hat and made her own costume. I think that she did a great job!

Birthday Month

Image
March was a busy month for us. Aaron and Hannah both celebrated their birthdays. We had a grand time on both days, but I couldn't find my camera on Hannah's birthday. Before thinking all is lost, I did video the blowing out of her candles. We have a flip video, and I am supposed to be able to make a snapshot from the video. However, I have not been as successful as I hoped. You would think that I could click the save button like it says, but something isn't working. Anyway, we had fun with a pinata on Aaron's birthday, and spent the day on Hannah's playing games in the backyard. Hannah requested Special K Yogurt and Berries cereal for dinner, so it made a stress free night!

And it came to pass...

For family scripture study, all of our girls have a copy of the illustrated Book of Mormon stories. Lydia reads when it is her turn and does a really good job. When it is Hannah and Jenny's turn, we tell them a phrase and then they repeat it to everyone. Last week, we read about Lehi's dream. We then got sick, and were negligent in our scripture study. When we opened the book a couple of nights ago, Hannah started "reading" her part from memory. She remembered the whole thing. At the end of her reading she says "okay, okay, I got it!" She does this after we give her a new phrase and then starts over and over adding a line each time. Anyway, we were very impressed with her memory!

Visiting with Chad and Stewart

We loved having Chad and Stewart come to visit! The week went by way too fast. These are mostly pictures from the Fort Worth Zoo. Hope you like the special effects. It is the closest we get to snow in Texas.

Baseball in the yard

Aaron got a tiny baseball mitt and bat for Christmas. He decided to try them out with Lydia, Chad and Stewart on the day after Christmas. Once I started filming, Chad hit the first ball right over the fence. It was a good way for us to meet our neighbors!
