Hello! I’m Angela—full-time photographer, digital artist, and unapologetic life-long cat lady. Art has always been my way of finding calm in a noisy world, and somewhere along the way I discovered that coloring is the perfect mix of escape, play, and pure creative joy. The real spark, though, comes from my 98 year old grandmother, Gloria, who is also a life-long cat lady. Due to health and mobility issues, she’s been homebound since Covid and coloring is the one thing that makes her days brighter. Unfortunately we live a thousand miles apart so I don’t get to see her nearly as often as I’d like, but when I get the opportunity to visit her, we spend hours just coloring while I listen to her tell me about the stories from her youth and life with my grandfather before he passed. Knowing how much she enjoys coloring, I bought her stacks of books over the years to keep her occupied—often buying us each a copy so we could color together despite the distance. But eventually they all started to look the same. So in 2023, I rolled up my sleeves and began creating my own designs—pages that I knew would make her smile. That Christmas, I presented her with several books and she absolutely lit up. I realized I’d stumbled into something worth sharing with the world. That’s how Ruby Collins Designs was born. What started as a gift for my grandmother has grown into a line of coloring books packed with humor, whimsy, and a splash of nostalgia. I draw inspiration from the board games I grew up playing, the cats who wander through my art with bigger personalities than most people I know, and the everyday absurdities that are easier to laugh at once they’re in ink. My books aren’t just about filling in lines—they’re an excuse to pause, breathe, and remember what it was like to just play. They’re a reminder that fun isn’t just for kids and that life feels a little lighter when you color outside the edges. At its heart, Ruby Collins Designs is a love letter to my grandmother who taught me resilience—to my past where games and art shaped my imagination, and to anyone who picks up one of my books and finds themselves smiling as they bring a page to life.
