About the author

Thea is a NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY Bestselling Author who writes action-packed urban fantasy with dark themes. She used to have a black lab at her feet when she wrote, warming up the calves. Now it's just a cuppa tea keeping her warm.
Whether she's finding ways to lure Isabella Hush into the Shadow Bazaar or throwing the switch on a new monster, her characters are usually deeply wounded individuals struggling for redemption. The romance is slow-burn but worth it, and the humor just might have a touch of Canadiana.
She's a huge fan of Patricia Briggs and Laurel K Hamilton and hopes you'll enjoy slipping into the skin of the characters she's created.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2013Format: KindleVerified PurchaseEven though I've not read "Water Witch" it did not take away any of the impact of this story for me. From the opening pages, Theron pulls the reader in. He is being tortured by Yuri and his man in the hopes that Theron will spill the secrets of the sacred mountain and the magic temptress, Elissa. In their youth Theron and Elissa are joined as one through the magic and their tattaus. Yuri wants to harness the magic, but Theron is loathe to spill the secrets so he starts at the beginning--the day when Yuri's mother captured and stole him from Elissa. The tale is told seamlessly through the present of unimaginable pain and the experiences of Theron's past. All the while, Yuri waits impatiently for the secret, but Theron, even in his agony, is the master of the day. "Theron's Tale" is a thoroughly engrossing tale.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2019Format: KindleQuite enjoyed the read but couldn't really follow it time's. Nevertheless.once started it I found it enjoyable.one could never predict the storyline
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI just did a review, for the other novella in this series, The Sons of Alkiai, which is also a prequel to Water Witch, the 1st book in the Tales of Etlantium Triogly. As I said in my other review I'm currently reading the last book in the trilogy. Ms. Atkinson has crafted something fresh, in this series, I for one will be looking for new releases from her in the near future.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2017Format: KindleTheron's Tale by Thea Atkinson is Book 2 of the Tales from Etlantium Series. This is a dark and short novella that takes place during the torture of Theron. Filled with history, legends and reincarnation, this story bounces back and forth between the past and the present as Theron’s tale unfolds. While this was an interesting read, I didn’t enjoy it all that much. It was alright but not my favorite.
Please note that an ARC was generously provided in exchange for an honest review of which this is both honest and completely voluntary.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2014Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is a must for anyone reading the series. Great back story. Already 1/2 way though next book. Can't wait to get to next book to see what happens!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 5, 2016Format: Kindlesuch a sad sad tale, I have to admit I found it a bit hard to read. Its more or less Theron's tale from when he first met the big women warriors and his torturor's mother. Its about what he saw when they finally captured him, all the deaths and treatment of others that they captured through his captivity till he was freed until the son finally captured him and led him to be tortured.
Its a very deep and dark book for anyone who has read any of Thea Atkinson's Witches series.
Its well written with interesting characters in it...
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 2015Format: KindleTheron' s story was quite interesting, many answers were provided, and established the character in the story. In book two, Theron, makes his entrance, and towards the end helps Alaysha, leaving you with questions as to why? And is he trustworthy, in this story we discover the answers as he tells how he came to Yuri' s camp and how he had survived the Giant tribe that Yuri was from...I have to say I found myself smiling at the authors ideas for this tribe....but in the end Theron will be and play an important piece of Alaysha' s puzzle, for he holds many answers that he hasn't presented to her yet.
I only wonder that if and when the Earth Witch makes her appearance where Theron' s allegiances will lye will he still work to help Alaysha? Or will he stay loyal to the Earth Witch? Or will he strive to have them work in harmony to save what's left of their tribe? And Will we find out who Saxa, and her brother really are? And who will win Alysha's heart in the end?
I can't wait to read the nest book in this series to find out what's going to happen.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2016Format: KindleI received Theron's Tale as a free copy from the author. The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. While this was not a feel good story, it was a wonderful example of a well-constructed htort story. Theron is a man being tortured, and during the procedure, reveals more of his story, hoping to delay the inevitable. People who are sensitive to violence/abuse will want to avoid this one, although, the author did a wonderful job.
