Colonel J.T. Owen built it in 1924 on the Ozark Trail—two years before the road became Route 66. The station served travelers from the ground floor while the attendant lived upstairs. Over the decades, the building wore the signs of Magnolia, Phillips 66, and Conoco, and even housed Slutz Barbershop after its days as a filling station.

On the road to the Route 66 Centennial Kickoff in Springfield, Missouri, Rī and Ruben raided the soda shelves and grabbed the wildest flavors they could find. Some were a sweet surprise. Others… well, the name of the segment says it all. Welcome to Sodas-gusting.
Surprise stop in Tulsa turned into one of the best meals on the trip. Tally’s Good Food Café — neon, red booths, chrome, and the kind of diner energy that makes you slow down. I got the Elvis Burger. Ruben went breakfast-for-lunch. Both of us left happy.
