Green Party

We are grassroots activists, environmentalists, advocates for social justice, nonviolent resisters and regular citizens who’ve had enough of corporate-dominated politics. Government must be part of the solution, but when it’s controlled by the 1%, it’s part of the problem. The longer we wait for change, the harder it gets. Don’t stay home on election day. Vote Green!

Everything we do is based on our four pillars ...

Image

Our country's long wars and worldwide military presence are immoral and unsustainable. Our military budget must be cut dramatically.

Image

The human cost of climate change is too high. We need to get off fossil fuels and on to renewable energy.

Image

Falling wages and rising bills are hitting most of us, and the most vulnerable are hit the hardest. We demand a living wage and a real safety net.

Image

We demand public financing of elections, open debates, and more representative voting systems.

... and our ten key values

Why I'm Green

Image

"I'm Green because I refuse to be complicit in my own opression. Power is to be shared amongst the many, and consolidated amongst the few."

Samantha is President of the Minneapolis Board of Estimate and Taxation (elected November, 2021).

I started out as a union organizer, spending much of my life organizing co-workers wherever I worked. I’ve always voted third party, voting for anti-war candidates. The values of the Green Party are my values, With the move to include the labor movement as part of the party’s platform, I’ve seen it improve over time.

Being Green means working in one’s community to form alliances with others toward a sustainable future, ending war, fighting racism, and working to change the system to be one that puts people before profits.

I think the foundation comes from the radical notion that my vote belongs to me. I’ve never voted for a candidate because I was afraid that someone else would win, I’ve always voted for the person I believed was the best option.

Second to that, I'm Green because I can no longer support candidates who’s campaigns are largely funded by big-moneyed interests. How are we going to solve the climate crisis when the two major parties continue to be largely funded by the fossil fuel industry!?

And lastly, the ten key values. They make it clear what the party is about, and these are values that correspond with my own. The ten key values are what inspire me, motivate me, and help me to share what the Green Party is.
