This was proof that students left Reaseheath with the knowledge, skills and qualifications employers and universities were actively seeking.<\/p>\n<p>The landbased industries were hugely important to the country\u2019s economy, with four million people employed. This sector would require a massive 600,000 new and replacement jobs by 2020, so students who were well trained and qualified could look forward to fantastic career opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>To ensure that students received the highest standards of teaching, \u00a330 million was currently being invested across campus in addition to the \u00a350 million which had been spent over the past six years.<\/p>\n<p>The latest specialist resources would include an agri-technology and advanced engineering centre, a sports science academy and sports hall which will be available for use by the local community, an extension for the college\u2019s Higher Education centre and new halls of residence for 300 students.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to academic success Reaseheath\u2019s \u00a0Student Association, supported by fellow students and staff from all departments, had raised a record \u00a332,000 for charities. Over \u00a326,000 would benefit the British Heart Foundation, the students\u2019 chosen charity for the year, while the remainder had been raised for other good causes in the local community.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulating the students, Meredydd said \u201cI know from personal experience that you will look back on your time at Reaseheath as one of the most enjoyable and memorable periods of your life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guest speakers were Martin Doel, Chief Executive of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aoc.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Association of Colleges<\/a>,\u00a0 Councillor Rachel Bailey, Leader of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheshireeast.gov.uk\/home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cheshire East Council<\/a>, and Councillor Samantha Dixon, Leader of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cheshirewestandchester.gov.uk\/Default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cheshire West and Chester Council<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br outstanding students received overall college awards:<\/h3><div class=\"special-heading-border\"><div class=\"special-heading-inner-border\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><br \/>\n<section  class='av_textblock_section av-av_textblock-0366cc7376be6c9e82a3e9cc8987b64f '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Kaitlinn Schaap, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/equine\/level-3-diplomas-horse-management-business\/\">Level 3 Diploma in Horse Management<\/a> student, was chosen as the student making the <strong>best contribution to college life. <\/strong>A member of the Student Association, Kaitlinn has encouraged fellow students to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/facelift-18s-common-room\/\">refurbish the Under 18s Common Room<\/a>. Her efforts, supported by the student services team and staff from the wider campus, has resulted in the Common Room becoming\u00a0 a highly popular and respected meeting point for younger residential students.<\/p>\n<p>Tom Allen, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/higher-education\/courses\/animal-management\/bsc-hons-wildlife-conservation-and-ecology\/\">BSc Wildlife, Conservation and Ecology<\/a> undergraduate, was selected for making the <strong>best all round contribution <\/strong>to the college. As Chair of the Raising and Giving (RAG) committee, he has led Reaseheath\u2019s fund raising activities to record breaking heights \u2013 raising over \u00a332,000 for The British Heart Foundation and other charities.<\/p>\n<p>Emmalise Mills, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/agriculture\/level-2-diploma-agriculture\/\">Level 2 Diploma in Agriculture<\/a> student, was singled out for <strong>personal qualities.<\/strong> Despite initially finding it difficult to live away from home, Emmalise has sought support from Reaseheath\u2019s Safeguarding, Welfare and Curriculum teams and has gained so much confidence that she has been selected to be part of the Freshers\u2019 Crew which will welcome the next intake of students.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Beacon Trophy,<\/strong> <strong>celebrating excellence,<\/strong> was presented to Katie Gibson who has just completed her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/higher-education\/courses\/events-management\/business-events-management-fd\/\">Foundation Degree in Rural Events Management<\/a>. This year\u2019s Student Association Vice President, Katie was recognised for her commitment to organising social activities and for encouraging as many students as possible to become involved.
