itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>One of the country\u2019s most successful specialist colleges, Reaseheath College in Nantwich continues to notch up record student enrolments and achievements.<\/p>\n<p>The college\u2019s annual awards ceremony celebrated the success of 1141 Further Education (FE) students who achieved specialist technical qualifications and skills this year.<\/p>\n<p>The students, from across the UK and abroad, are preparing for careers in land-based and related industries such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/agriculture\/\">agriculture<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/animal-management\/\">animal<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/equine\/\">equine management<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/agricultural-engineering\/\">agricultural engineering<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/motor-vehicle\/\">motor vehicle technology<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/business-and-events-management\/\">business and events management<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/conservation-wildlife-management\/\">environmental conservation<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/aquatic-ecosystems-fisheries-management\/\">fish management<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/forestry-and-arboriculture\/\">forestry<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/food-technology\/\">food manufacture<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/floristry\/\">floristry<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/horticulture\/\">horticulture<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/construction\/\">construction<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reaseheath.ac.uk\/further-education\/courses\/public-services\/\">public services<\/a> or in leisure industries such as sport and outdoor adventure.<\/p>\n<p>Sharing congratulations with a capacity audience, Principal Meredydd David emphasised that the jobs market remained competitive and, whatever the future outside the EU, the education and training that Reaseheath\u2019s students received would make them highly employable in their chosen profession.<\/p>\n<p>The land-based, engineering and associated industries were a hugely important economic sector, contributing over \u00a3110 billion a year to the economy and employing four million people.<\/p>\n<p>The global challenge of food, water and energy security, fuelled by a growing world population and volatile politics, would increase demand for food production by an estimated 50% in 12 years\u2019 time. This would create opportunities and he urged the students to use their skills and knowledge to \u2018make a difference\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>To help address these challenges, Reaseheath had completed nearly \u00a380m of investment on campus to ensure that its facilities and resources were first class. The latest investment include an agri-technology and advanced engineering centre, a sports science academy and laboratories, an extension to the college\u2019s higher education centre and further halls of residence. Always measured and professional, he used his popularity to encourage students to enjoy themselves responsibly and was respected by both staff and students.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Best all round contribution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ellie Thomas<\/strong> (BSc (Hons) Wildlife, Conservation and Ecology)<\/p>\n<p>As Student Association Vice President (Academic and Curriculum), Ellie had<\/p>\n<p>represented the student body with confidence and maturity at Governors\u2019 meetings. She had also taken the lead on 15 campaigns which had included improving Reaseheath\u2019s approach to sustainability, broadening the careers offer college-wide and improving student awareness of alcohol and substance abuse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Personal qualities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Megan Marriott<\/strong> (Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care)<\/p>\n<p>Despite initially being shy, Megan had developed into a mature, conscientious and responsible young person who was an exceptional role model for younger residential students. The Under 18s Rep on the Student Association and a member of the Freshers\u2019 Crew, she was also a college ambassador and brought the Reaseheath experience to life for prospective students and parents.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sporting activities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>William Payne (<\/strong>Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture)<\/p>\n<p>An exceptional rugby player, both on and off the pitch, Will had been a key player for the college team as well as playing Colts games for Crewe and Nantwich.<\/p>\n<p>Following his middle year industrial placement, Will used his enhanced management skills to help lead the team through an outstanding season concluding with third place in the North West AoC Sports League and runners- up position in the Regional 7s
