Licensed Massage Therapist, Trauma informed Yoga Instructor, Surgeon’s First Assistant

After years working as a surgical technologist and surgeon’s assistant, Angelina became deeply aware of the ways stress, trauma, injury, and emotional overwhelm impact both the body and overall quality of life. Her experience in surgery created a strong respect for the body’s resilience and capacity to heal, while also inspiring a desire to explore more preventative, relational, and holistic approaches to care.

Alongside this, she began working with a dance movement therapist which expanded her understanding of the connection between movement, emotion, and expression beyond traditional yoga. She went on to integrate these insights into her teaching practice over 8 years of yoga instruction, including creating curriculum in a Lululemon residency and directing Chicago’s first yoga and mind health clinic integrating psychedelic-assisted therapy. Through these experiences, she witnessed how breath, movement, and body awareness can meaningfully shift the way people arrive into their lives.

Through intentional therapeutic touch, Angelina’s work focuses on helping individuals reconnect with the innate wisdom of their bodies through nervous system-centered, compassionate, and integrative care.

Learn

  • Light, medium, to firm pressure involving the use of long, flowing strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration, and tapping. These techniques are primarily aimed at increasing blood and lymph circulation.

  • Focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It's especially beneficial for chronic aches and pains, stiff necks, upper back, lower back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders. Unlike Swedish massage, which is often used for relaxation, deep tissue massage involves the use of slower, more forceful strokes that target deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue.

  • Prenatal massage is a therapeutic approach designed to support the physical and emotional changes that occur throughout pregnancy. As the body adapts to rapid structural, hormonal, and nervous system changes, many individuals experience increased tension, fatigue, swelling, discomfort, and overwhelm.

Prenatal bodywork is tailored specifically to the changing needs of the pregnant body while prioritizing safety, comfort, and nervous system support. Sessions may help address:

    • low back and hip discomfort

    • neck and shoulder tension

    • swelling and circulation support

    • sleep difficulties

    • nervous system regulation

    • stress and emotional overwhelm

    • postural strain from physical changes during pregnancy

  • Cupping is a traditional healing practice used in various cultures, especially in Chinese and Middle Eastern medicine. The therapy involves placing cups on the skin to create suction, which is thought to promote healing through increased blood flow, reduced inflammation, and relaxation of muscle tissues.

  • A therapeutic approach that integrates an understanding of the physical, emotional, and psychological impacts of trauma into bodywork practices such as massage, somatic therapy, or other hands-on modalities. This approach is designed to create a safe, supportive environment where individuals who have experienced trauma can receive bodywork without re-traumatization or triggering emotional distress.

  • Grief is not experienced only emotionally — it is also experienced physically within the body and nervous system. Loss, transition, heartbreak, chronic stress, caregiving, trauma, and major life changes can contribute to tension, fatigue, nervous system dysregulation, breath restriction, digestive changes, exhaustion, numbness, and physical holding patterns.

Many people experiencing grief remain in prolonged states of survival, hypervigilance, emotional suppression, or disconnection from the body. Therapeutic touch can offer a gentle space for grounding, regulation, rest, and reconnection during periods of emotional overwhelm or transition.

At Sol State, grief-informed bodywork is approached with compassion, pacing, consent, and nervous system awareness. The intention is not to force emotional release, but to support the body in feeling safe enough to soften, process, and be supported exactly where it is.

Massage therapy cannot remove grief, but it can help create moments of regulation, presence, and care within the body while moving through it.

  • During a guided breathwork session, a practitioner instructs or guides the participant through various breathing techniques designed to regulate the breath and engage the body's natural relaxation response. These sessions can vary in intensity and purpose, from simple relaxation exercises to more intense breathwork designed to release emotional blockages or alter consciousness.

  • Guided embodiment practices support a deeper connection to the body through awareness, sensation, breath, movement, and nervous system education. These practices encourage clients to slow down, notice internal cues, and develop greater trust in the body’s communication rather than overriding or disconnecting from it.

  • Used to relieve pain and improve mobility by targeting the myofascial tissues. These tissues are the thin, tough connective tissues that surround and support muscles throughout the body. When these tissues become tight or restricted, it can lead to pain, decreased range of motion, and other issues.

  • Involves both the stretching and contracting of the targeted muscle group. It is commonly used in rehabilitation settings and athletic training to enhance both passive and active range of motion, with the ultimate goal of optimizing motor performance and aiding in muscle recovery.
