Tarun Chouhan doesn't wait for the light to be perfect. He documents real people in real moments — weddings, portraits, and stories that feel exactly like life does: unfiltered, honest, and alive.
A bicycle. A red saree. The Arabian Sea stretching endlessly behind them. She holds him, he laughs into the sky — and Tarun Chouhan is already three steps away, waiting for the moment that needs no direction.
This is documentary couple photography — not staged, not directed. Just two people being exactly who they are, in front of a lens that knows how to listen.
"The camera doesn't create the moment. It only proves it was real."
Tarun Chouhan is a Mumbai-based documentary photographer whose work lives in the space between two Indias — the stillness of rural Rajasthan and the relentless pulse of the city.
He grew up in a village near Barmer, Rajasthan — one of the country's most remote desert regions — before moving to Mumbai to chase a quieter, more honest kind of image.
Known for capturing human emotions, everyday life, and cultural stories through authentic portraits, his photographs never stage reality — they wait for it, patiently.
His work has been featured in National Geographic, shortlisted at the International Photography Awards, and exhibited at Mehrangarh Fort, Jodhpur.
Every couple has a rhythm. A silence. A language between moments — documented as they naturally unfold.
They packed everything they needed. The rest they'd figure out together — at the edge of the forest, at the beginning of something irreversible.
View Series →Some friendships arrive quietly — and teach us how to fly again.
View Series →Behind the neon and the noise, they love quietly — in doorways, in glances, in hands that hold on.
View Series →Golden light, heavy curtains, and a white dove taking flight from their hands. Love — quiet, deliberate, letting go and holding on at once.
View Series →"Observe patiently. Feel deeply. Speak honestly."
— The Documentary Philosophy
From Singapore to London, Tarun's documentary vision has been recognised by the world's most respected photography institutions — and featured on the platforms that shape visual culture.
In this TEDx talk, Tarun Chouhan takes the stage to speak about the philosophy behind his lens — why he documents the unseen, the forgotten, and the quietly extraordinary. A conversation about stillness, observation, and what it means to truly see another human being.
Twelve documentary collections — each opening into a full Pixieset gallery of high-resolution storytelling work.
From the streets of Mumbai to intimate stories across Europe, Dubai, and Southeast Asia — Tarun collaborates with couples who value emotion, culture, and authentic visual storytelling. The experience is deeply personal, cinematic, and intentionally intimate.
