April 2016 Hail Storms

Storm Two

Storm one is posted below. For storm two, we received severe thunderstorm warnings. We watched the sky get darker...

and even a little green...

Yet, those first three pictures were taken from where I was standing in this picture facing out. This one Evelyn took from where she was sitting in the first picture. Blue skies!

We had a good idea of what was headed our way. we are the blue pin.

Storm One

We got a severe thunderstorm warning on our phones around 10:30pm. Ben moved the cars into the garage and I watched the lightening storm from the front porch. I could hear wind and thunder, but also a very loud swooshing sound in the distance. That sound came closer and closer and within minutes a wall of hail surrounded us. It was very loud! We had damaged screens and planters but all very minor.

Good reason to get some new flower pots.

Hail stones were a little smaller in the first storm, but there were more of them.

Because we had minimal damage, it made the storm pretty exciting. Unfortunately, our neighbors a few miles away had it much worse. Here is a news report on it:

And last, here is a photo of the storm from afar:

We went to the neighborhood of our friends, the Boyds. They have 8 children and there were 2 more boys that came along. We split into 4 groups and had a great time!

Here is the crazy crew!

My group couldn't quite make it through the whole neighborhood. I think they had a good night!

Happy Birthday, Evelyn!

This last October, we celebrated the 11th birthday of our daughter dearest. She opted for Penne Rustica, one of her favorite pasta dishes. She shared the chance to decorate her cake with her siblings. We enjoyed a weekend of watching Harry Potter and also dog-sitting. We sure appreciate the sparkle and brilliance this fantastic girl adds to our lives!

She was sweet to let everyone help decorate her Harry Potter themed cake.

The sweetest birthday girl

Part of her gift was that we got to dog-sit over the weekend. The one with the white face was named Janie. I can't remember the name of the other one, but it was so fat, the kids called her Meatball.

Henry Reading and Shouting

I had gone to the library yesterday and picked up a few Elephant and Piggie books by Mo Willems. Henry had never read these ones before and took off reading them like a pro! He has always loved letters and it shows in his reading, we're pretty impressed with his 4 year old reading skills.

Henry had this song stuck in his head, "Shout, oh shout, shout for joy..." and spent the day shouting on the front porch!
He sure is a goose!

Tour the States - Official Music Video

Just in case you've wanted to know what our house sounds like...This! This has been playing non-stop, but it's fun to listen to and mesmerizing to watch. And if you name any state to any of the kids, there's a good chance they can tell you the capital!
