As an American who has travelled the country since the mid-1980s, I don’t notice any increase in crude racism, anti-Semitism or other forms of hate. What I have noticed is that people are less optimistic, in worse health, more anxious and more suspicious of each other.

County Highway mourns the death of Brian Wilson, who used the stuff of ordinary California teenage life to make some of the most beautiful music in the history of mankind. Seeing him in his later years was a joy and also a reminder of the storms he conquered. RIP.
