    We're affiliated to the Labour Party, we have been since 1943 & are proud to be so. But our policy on Brexit is clear. Staying in the EU is still the best option for musicians. We support a #PeoplesVote. We can not support any deal that removes freedom of movement for musicians.

    Hi @RishiSunak. Today you said the Job Support Scheme applies to everyone “whatever job they do”. Does that mean you’re increasing SEISS so that self employed people get an equal level of support, & closing gaps that 38% musicians and 3m #ExcludedUK fall through? #covidbriefing

    We’ve received reports of venues and events asking musicians to work for free. This is not acceptable. Many artists are looking for paid work after losing all their bookings due to Covid-19. Being expected to work for free only adds to the stress that they are already under.

    This is not good enough. Extending the income support schemes is welcome, but is the Government expecting musicians to survive on 20% of their usual income? And will they just continue to ignore the 38% of musicians who fall through gaps in #SEISS? We need clarity now.

    The Self-Employment Income Support Scheme extension will support viable traders who are facing reduced demand over the winter months, covering 20 per cent of average monthly trading profits via a government grant.

    We’re in Parliament Square supporting #WeMakeEvents #FreelanceDancers and 38% musicians who are #ExcludedUK, calling on Government to #SaveTheArts and #LetMusicLive. Creative industries contributed £111.7 billion to the UK in 2018, equivalent to £306 million every day.
