People will talk about what government can’t do. I’m running to show what government can do.

Tonight, violent white supremacist stole and burned a Black Lives Matter banner from Asbury United Methodist, the oldest Black Methodist church in DC. But yet no militarized police force used against them. There are two justice systems in this country, separate and unequal.

The Green New Deal is good, fracking is bad, climate change and science is real. This isn’t up for debate. #VPDebate

Today the President of the United States and many Senate Democrats turned their backs on DC residents and our fundamental right to self determination.

I support D.C. Statehood and home-rule – but I don’t support some of the changes D.C. Council put forward over the Mayor’s objections – such as lowering penalties for carjackings. If the Senate votes to overturn what D.C. Council did – I’ll sign it.

The people of Ward 4 are ready for a leader who will put people first. All DC voting centers are reporting results as of early this morning and the current returns show a decisive majority. We expect this lead will stay stable or grow slightly as the remaining data arrives.

If DC were a state, this would NOT be able to happen!

This is a complete disgrace. Over the summer we saw federal law federal law enforcement use tear gas, flash bangs, and rubber bullets on Black Lives Matter protesters without provocation. Where are the riot squads now? Are they standing down as white supremacists attempt a coup?

Sitting here trying to figure out how law enforcement can successfully deescalate a white domestic terrorist in a truck threatening to blow up the Capitol with a bomb but not a Black man who fell asleep in his car?

"And in Washington, D.C., Janeese Lewis George, a self-described democratic socialist, beat a sitting city councilman whose mailers said Ms. George wanted 'to cut police in Ward 4.' She prevailed by 10 percentage points."
Mayor-elect Ella Jones in Ferguson, Mo., on Wednesday. She will become the first black person and first woman to lead the city.

Everyone should be outraged by the DC Council's proposed $18 million cuts to public programs and essential services yesterday. Cutting funds from already underfunded programs for housing, child care, food access, mental health services, support for immigrantsβ€” (1/3)

I stand in solidarity with staff at the @washingtonian as they withhold their labor today. No worker should ever have their livelihood threatened for wanting to work from home during a pandemic. Reporters deserve so much better.

As members of the Washingtonian editorial staff, we want our CEO to understand the risks of not valuing our labor. We are dismayed by Cathy Merrill’s public threat to our livelihoods. We will not be publishing today.

As a DC resident Trump's acquittal is so infuriating. DC was attacked by white supremacists and our officers put their lives on the line to save Congress. Now these same Senators acquitted the man who caused the insurrection in a trial where we don't even get a vote. #DCStatehood
