who's searching for monogamy at publix???
A screenshot of a Publix search page that demonstrates me, searching for "nog" (for the holiday season), surprised to see that the next suggested result is "monogamy"

Last week, I had the honor of sharing 5 years of collected research during my (successful!) PhD defense. Next, I'll spend one year as a @cbitshealth postdoc, then begin as an assistant professor at @UCSF_DOCIT in Sept 2025. I am so thankful and excited for what the future holds!
A picture of me with my advisors and committee members.

After I was told that my defense had been successful, the question arose of how we could quickly take a formal (non-selfie) picture of my committee and me. I quickly walked to the hallway to see if there was anyone around who could take the picture, and stumbled upon a guy walking back from his lunch break, lunchbox in hand.

Me (still in shock): "Hey, uh, I just successfully, uh, defended my dissertation...can you take a picture of me with my committee?"
Him (with furrowed brow): "Hmm...yes, yes I do think I can."

And then after a pause, with him deep in thought, he sprinted off into the distance.

Me: "Wait, where are you going?! Could you take the picture?"
Him: "Don't worry! This is my job! I'm getting my professional camera!"

Thank you to JP Popham, a professional photographer for GT's College of Computing, who I happened to bump into. You certainly had more energy (and a better quality camera) than I did in that moment.
My dissertation is entitled The Algorithm Keeps The Score: Identity, Marginalization, and Power in the Technology-Mediated Search for Care.

From Child Line to the emergency lines, from local hospital lines to senior citizens helplines, it is not uncommon to see helpline-based initiatives around India. Mental health is no exception, with dozens of potential lines to call. But what happens after dialing a helpline? 1/

There's a long history in the US of stigma around politicians speaking publicly about mental illness _while_ in office. I see Senator Fetterman's open disclosure as demonstrating some of the progress that has been made in destigmatizing mental illness. Wishing him the best 💙

John Fetterman releasing a statement that he's checking himself into a hospital to treat his clinical depression, knowing everyone is speculating about his health, makes me feel so seen. We don't have to hide. We deserve treatment. We deserve our condition to be normalized.

<insert a “what my non-academic friends think i do versus what i actually do” meme here>
A set of two messages, with me saying "I think I might have to hunker down and work on my proposal tonight, but have fun my friendz" and someone else saying "I hope she says yes" (with a "haha" react to the latter message).
