    Today, St. Michael’s Hospital launched the appointment-based COVID-19 vaccination clinic as part of the first phase of Ontario’s vaccine roll out. This is a huge milestone in our fight against COVID-19. Learn more about the historic day: bit.ly/3riCBf4
    Melissa Vitug, a Resident Assistant at the Houses of Providence, was the first frontline health care worker to receive the vaccine at St. Michael’s today. She described the day as one of mixed emotions: nervousness, positivity and hopefulness. Megan Buchholz, Registered Nurse, administered the first vaccine of the day.

    Thanks to increased organ donations and transplants, an unprecedented 388 lives in Ontario were saved in the first three months of the year. Our transplant specialist, Dr. Jeffrey Zaltzman, is thrilled to see these results.

    St. Michael’s Hospital has officially received verification as a Level I Trauma Centre from the American College of Surgeons, making it one of a very limited number of health centres outside of the USA to achieve this standing. (1/5)

    St. Michael’s Hospital currently has seven women residents who specialize in neurosurgery. Usually St. Michael’s only sees one woman resident training in the male-dominated field. Five of the residents share their journeys with CBC News.
