Western stands with the Black community and with all those calling out anti-Black racism. Violence against Black, Indigenous and racialized peoples are pervasive – Canada is not immune. Resistance against racism is critical to move society – and our campus community – forward.

Students heading into Grade 4 have had their education disrupted since they were in Grade 2. Prof Srivastava advocates reframing the curriculum for all, and intensive one-on-one instruction for the most disadvantaged, and reduced class sizes, and a pro-equity approach.
"We must invest using a pro-equity approach to boost and redistribute resources to education. The @WorldBank, @UNESCO, #G20 & @UNICEF all agree we need to protect and fund education beyond business as usual. Now is not the time to cut or under-finance education. Our futures depend on it." - Prachi Srivastava, education and global development professor, Western University
