Youth Mental Health

At Z-Cares Foundation, conversation is where hope begins.

Too many young people struggle in silence, unsure where to turn or who will understand. Research shows that simply showing up, listening, and talking openly about mental health can make a life-changing difference.

At Z-Cares, we believe no one should have to start that conversation alone.

Through our powerful Stories of Hope Collection, educational resources, and meaningful community connections, Z-Cares helps families, educators, and youth find the confidence to talk, connect, and take the first step toward hope.

Start the conversation. Discover the stories. Find hope.

Meet the 'Z' in Z-Cares

“Z is for Zachary — The Heart Behind the Hope.”

To understand the Z-Cares Foundation, you must first know the meaning behind the “Z.” Created in memory of Zachary Nimmo, Z-Cares was founded by his family and friends to honor the love and light he brought to the world. Their mission is simple: to foster a world filled with hope.

Zachary was more than a son, brother, or teammate—he was a true friend. Known for his compassion and courage, he stood up for others, found joy in life’s little things, and embraced both athletics and his inner “geek.” His life continues to inspire.

In his honor, Z-Cares champions youth mental health by encouraging open, honest conversations. The message is clear: speak up, support each other, and remember—no one fights alone. Together, let’s talk about it.
