Church Fall Festival 2012

We brainstormed all year about our costumes. We couldn’t decide what to do.

About 10 days before the Fall Festival, my friend Holly suggested “Pop-eye and Olive Oyl” costumes. I ran with it!

Bridgette stole the show during the children’s “Parade of Costumes” when she paused mid stage and started dancing! She must have been up there for over 30 seconds, all by herself, swaying her hips and bouncing up and down.

It was a proud moment for me; my daughter dancing to Michael Jackson! I was laughing so hard. She is a hoot, this little Bridgette!

Sweet Pea’s Costume:

I bought basic red and white fabric that I sewed up into a gown.

I added the black ribbon to a hat she already owned.Recently Updated162

Olive Oyl’s Costume:

I thrifted a red turtle neck, cut out the collar and added a white scalloped collar (with the help of a very talented seamstress from my church) and cuffs.

I added yellow ribbon to a skirt I already owned.

I wore Rick’s socks and boots.

I spray painted my hair black.

Popeye’s Costume:

I thrifted the Dickie’s shirt and added the collar, buttons and cuffs.

We used ace bandages for his arms and covered them with knee high nylons.

We bought his hat, belt and pants.

Rick hand carved his wooden pipe and made his can of spinach.

We love having family themed costumes for Halloween! And I love how “crafty” Rick is. I couldn’t do this without his help!
