Yes! You can start with our Free plan to explore Plotly Studio and publish your first app. The Free plan includes a trial credit grant and access to all core Plotly Studio features with some limitations. This allows you to experience the platform before committing to a paid plan. After using your trial credit grant, you can easily add more credits to your account or subscribe to continue using Plotly Studio features.

Credits power AI-assisted features in Plotly Studio (plot and app authoring, editing, data source interactions, Explore mode) and cloud computing resources. Your credit usage is tracked transparently, so you always know where you stand. The system is designed for predictability, with no surprise bills or hidden limits. If you do run out of credits, the Free plan includes a one-time credit grant, while Pro provides monthly credit allocations. Enterprise plans include unlimited credits. When you exceed your allocated credits, you will no longer have access to the features that are powered by credits.

Plotly Team Creators will no longer have access to the features that are powered by credits until you purchase additional credits. In the meantime, your published apps will continue running; this functionality is unaffected by running out of credits.

Each additional Plotly credit costs $1, and you can purchase credit top-offs as needed for your Team account when you exceed your monthly allocation.

Yes! Plotly Cloud is purpose designed for hosting Dash apps. You can publish your existing Dash apps by uploading them to Plotly Cloud, either by drag-and-drop or a single button click via our Dash integration. Plotly Studio generates Dash code as outputs, which you can inspect and modify if you’re familiar with Dash.

Every Plotly user is a member of one or more Plotly Teams. A Team is a shared workspace where members collaborate on Dash projects together. Plotly Teams share a pool of Plotly credits and are composed of one or many user accounts (which can be assigned the role of Creators and Viewers). Create a Team for your data science department, your client project, or your research group, then invite the people who need to be involved. Working across multiple teams? The team switcher in the navigation makes it easy to move between contexts. Your selection persists across sessions, so you'll always return to where you left off.

Creators and Viewers are both Plotly Team user roles.

Creators are the builders. They can deploy and manage applications, invite new members, and handle team administration. Give this role to developers, data scientists, and project leads who need full control. Viewers are the consumers. They can access and interact with applications shared with the team, but can't deploy new apps or manage membership. This role is perfect for stakeholders, executives, and clients who need visibility without administrative overhead.

Changing roles is straightforward. Promote a Viewer to Creator when they're ready to deploy, or adjust access as project needs evolve. Built-in safeguards prevent common mistakes like accidentally removing the last administrator from a Team.

A Private Viewer is a user role on your Team that is granted permission to view private hosted apps (apps visible to permitted logged-in users but not to the general world) but cannot edit or create new apps. This is perfect for sharing dashboards with stakeholders, clients, or executives. Pro includes 10 Private Viewers.

No. In order to invite other users to be Creators and Viewers on your Plotly Team, you need to upgrade to a paid plan. Similarly, when downgrading from a paid plan to the Free plan, you must remove Team members first, or contact us for support in closing your Team account.

Yes! You can change your Plotly plan at any time and you can always add or remove members from your team. When upgrading, you'll gain immediate access to new features and your billing will be prorated through the end of the month. When downgrading, changes take effect at the start of your next billing cycle, and you'll retain access to your current plan's features until then.

Absolutely. You can cancel your subscription at any time with no penalties or cancellation fees. If you cancel, you'll retain access to your paid plan features through the end of your current billing period. After that, your account will automatically revert to the Free plan. Please note that if you’ve added any additional users as Creators and/or Viewers to your Team, these users must be removed before you can downgrade your subscription.

• If you know you want to share more than one Dash or Plotly Studio app with the world, you need a paid plan
• If you want to work with a Team, you need a paid plan
• If you want to remove Plotly branding from your hosted app, you need a paid plan
• If you use more than 29 Plotly credits in a month, it is more economical to do so with a paid plan, even if you upgrade for a single month and downgrade at the end of the month.

Yes! The Pro plan allows you to add additional Creator seats for $29/month each and up to 10 free private Viewers. This works great for 2-3 Creator teams who don't need more than 10 Viewers or aren’t using large amounts of Plotly credits yet. When your Team grows larger, you need more Viewers, or you need more credits, you should consider upgrading from Pro to Enterprise.

Pro includes 1 Creator seat and 10 private Viewers.

If none of these apply, stick with Pro and add seats as needed.

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) and offer invoice-based billing for annual Enterprise plans. All payments are processed securely through our payment provider, and you can update your payment method at any time in your account settings.

Every user is welcome to send a help request to our in-app support, where we strive to respond to questions within 48 hours during business hours. For teams that want their requests tracked with a ticket by a dedicated support team and an account manager to partner with, we offer premium support as part of our Enterprise plans.
