EurHeCA is the European association that brings together the competent authorities of healthcare professionals such as pharmacists, nurses, physiotherapists, podiatrists and midwives in the European Union.
The aim of our association is to encourage the exchange of best practices and feedbacks between the competent authorities of healthcare professions, always with a view to safeguarding patient safety. The central role played by the competent authorities in guaranteeing a high-quality healthcare system is at the heart of the commitment of the members of our association.
EurHeCA's members are particularly attentive to the issues surrounding the mobility of healthcare professionals, especially as key actors in the implementation of the directive on the recognition of professional qualifications. The association is working to ensure that quality of care and patient safety are always at the heart of European policies regarding mobility of healthcare professionals, when all too often economic considerations take precedence.
When the European institutions wish to promote the ambition of creating a genuine "Europe of health", and when the adoption of a European strategy for healthcare professionals could be part of the work programme of the future European Commission, the members of EurHeCA wish to stress the need to include all the healthcare professions working to guarantee the quality of care for European patients and public health.
The richness of the regular exchanges within our association demonstrates the interest and the need for dialogue between all the healthcare professions - this is one of the key messages that our association wishes to continue to convey to European public decision-makers!
