Browsers, the web platform, and open source

Hi, I'm Brian Smith. I work on Firefox and the web platform at Mozilla, based in Berlin. Most of my work sits between engineering, documentation, and product.

What I do

I've spent close to two decades working with web technologies and software teams on a few systems with lots of moving parts. My work has ranged from technical writing and content architecture to product thinking for developer platforms and open-source projects.

Before working on MDN, I was Head of Content at QuestDB, a YC-backed open-source database, where I helped scale the company from seed through a Series A. These days my work involves:

  • Product work close to the browser
  • Improving browser support and adoption for organizations
  • Open-source systems and workflows
